Re: sluggish takeoff

You can reuse the A/F screws and their springs and washers, but you should install new o-rings. Try 2-1/2 turns out. Make sure the needles are in the right position, and don't have a stack of washers under them. Also double check your float heights. You should need a bit of choke when cold. No need ...

Re: Parking

Public use sidewalks, even those that cross "private" property, are usually off limits to parking and must be kept clear for foot traffic.

Re: sluggish takeoff

Stock jet sizes? Why 3.5 turns out on the A/F screws? Seems excessive, like pilots too small. How does it behave on choke?

Custom chopper...so, what...Big Dog? Is it Harley based? S&S? Have you inspected the primary? Did the belt/chain come off? Is your clutch no longer disengaging (hung up)? Is it hydraulic or cable operated?

After four years of tinkering with this build in my scarce spare time, she's finally complete. Everything you see is powder coat - the wheels, exhaust, tins, motor, frame, forks...all of it. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51271501765_ad1ff285c1_k.jpg 8214 by Some Dude , on Flickr https://live.s...

Sounds like the onset of a medical condition, perhaps vertigo, or low blood pressure, or maybe you need glasses or a new prescription.

Those two bikes couldn't be more different. The Shadow is far more bike for the money, but what is your aptitude? An 1100 will get you in a lot of trouble if you're not ready. But, take your time and fear/respect it and it can be done.

Re: Motorcycle Helmet opinion

There is nothing "comfortable" about encasing your head in plastic and padding, especially in California heat. Go to a motorcycle gear superstore and wear your top 3 contenders around the store for 10min each and buy the least uncomfortable.

It was a hugely popular burger we had here but sadly they discontinued it 3 years ago. Probably because it didn't make them a lot of money for the price they were selling it for.
It's on the menu here in Ohio.

Re: New to this forum: 1996 VS800

A lot has changed since 1996. With the addition of ethanol to the fuel, the specified jets are too small. Whenever bringing a bike like yours back from the dead, I always replace the pilots with at least one size larger, then maybe shim the needle with one additional washer. The carbs on the VS700/7...

Re: Front Cylinder misfiring, throwing flames from cobra pipe

It's afterfiring on only one cylinder, and pulling the plug on the front makes no difference, so your problem is isolated to the front cylinder. You can eliminate some things both cylinders have in common, such as the fuel (if it's bad, it's bad for both). You could have a clogged jet, a stuck float...
