LS650

I have an 87 Suzuki Savage LS650 and I love it- simple, no shake, rarely backfires, - I change the oil yearly and it always starts and runs well. 17,000 mi. I bought it used. 4 speed- plenty of torque and I like not throwing in the extra shift - ride alot on rough pothole roads and sloping road shou...

Re: When Did You Get the Itch

When I was 4 someone gave me a ride on back- dreamed about it for years until I dug out a 125 Benelli from a storage basement- my brothers bike he ordered from Montgomery Ward catalog. Stuck it somehow into the trunk of a valiant - some of it anyway! - and brought it to where I was living. Rode with...

Re: Educate me please

In Maine people are generally struggling. They don't have the toys or the big house. I teach. In the last 5 years I've stated to see homeless families and people living out of shelters and small campers heated by kerosene without any running water. The 60's had its share of tar-paper shacks and the ...

Re: Educate me please

In the 60's the wages were proportionately higher than they are today (purchasing power) thanks to the Unions. One good salary was all you needed to support a family. Today both spouses have to work to get by. Then corporations started sending work and jobs overseas - Hong Kong, Japan, anywhere wher...

Re: 650 suzuki savage

I love my 1987 Suzuki Savage. It has plenty of power and torque. Comfortable and reliable. Check out this Savage forum for another view of them - unbiased by the status quo! You don't have to have a bike as big as 800cc to 1400cc to enjoy it. The Savage, LS650, S40 are all the same basic bike - crui...

new key

Sometimes there is a number on the cylinder that you can take to a dealer and they can make you a key. Also do a web search and you can send them the number and they will send you the key. It cost me 30 for two keys last time. Good luck.

ads

What is with the hyperlink ads in people's text-- "oil" pop up ad is for Castrol and so on? Is this just a way to pay for the bills? Funny because one moderator chewed someone out for posting an ad for portrait services!
Just curious.
