Re: Are we experiencing a "practical bike" renaissance?
Yeah I think the manufacturers finally realized that selling nothing but big cruisers and super sports had basically priced themselves out of the current US market. In Harley's case, their traditional buyers are starting to die off from old age, the exact same problem Cadillac had 10-15 years ago, c...

Re: Harley-Davidson's New Steet Line - Street 500 and Street
It reminds me of a cross between the street rod and a the XR1200. Harley could have a real winner here if they ride as good as they look. The price is quite reasonable and comparable to other entry level cruisers. I think Harley finally realized that the 883 while being fairly cheap, wasn't particul...

Re: Hell Hath Frozen Over - 2014 Harley-Davidsons get water
Isn't it just the two Electra Glide models that get the water-cooled (well, partially water-cooled) engine. Interestingly, water-cooling isn't even mentioned in the press notes http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2014models/2014-Harley-Davidson-FLHTCU-UltraClassicElectraGlide.htm They certai...

Re: Does anyone still make a 400cc-500cc cruiser?
I believe that the vulcan 500 actually has more power than a H-D 883, it is actually a fast little bike. After some time on the 250 pretty much any cruiser between 650cc and 900cc would be a good upgrade from the 250. V-Star 650, V-Star Bolt, V-Star 950, Vulcan 750, 800, 900, Suzuki S50, C50, M50, H...

Re: Too big for sport bike?
Thanks for the replies guys. Iv looked at the adventure type bikes, but I really can't stand the looks of them. They would actually probably be ideal for the back country roads riding im interested in, but I just don't care for them. I went down to the local Honda dealership today and looked around...

Re: Commuting by motorcycle is good for EVERYONE.
A modern bike with a catalyst in the exhaust might be a tad cleaner than a car, but any older bike without one is going to put out more emissions than a late model car.

Re: Yamaha Crossplane vs. Yamaha Triple
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2B4bNds5ts ^^This is the new Yamaha. Sounds pretty much the same as the street triple. Big question, will it match the street triple's induction sound :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3GkaO1moWI (this video gives you some idea of how nice the street triple's inducti...

Re: Are we experiencing a "practical bike" renaissance?
If there has been I certainly haven't seen it around here. Have seen a grand total of ONE street triple and one Ninja 1000 (the new one) and a few ninja 650s and SV650s in town, and the odd bandit or UJM but thats about it for standards. Its still mostly harleys around here. Pretty much the same thi...

Re: victory does it overheat?
I have never heard of a modern air cooled bike overheating aside from the odd ducati monster idling in traffic for too long. certainly have never seen a cruiser overheat (though I suppose if you bumped the compression ratio up enough on a modded harley motor you could probably overheat it at idle). ...

Re: Cruisers and gravel roads
SlimColo would disagree with you here. I've met him in person and he's a ton of miles on a Sportster with dual sport tires cruising the dirt roads of CO. That would be a sight to see. I could see some of the taller mid-mount sportsters making interesting "dual sportsters". the wrecked one...
