Re: Riding blind - a geezer's tale

Maybe try contacts if you aren't already using them? If I know I'll be riding at night, I will wear my contacts. I have to pick smaller lenses for my glasses because they're a bit too thick and contact lenses make it seem like I can see much more (esp. peripherally). I still don't like riding/drivin...

State Inspections checkpoints

In New Jersey, we've recently done away with state inspections for motorcycles. That's all fine and dandy. However, last week, I took a trip into New York and ended up in a mandatory vehicle inspection checkpoint (it was right in the middle of a street in Buffalo...I've never encountered something l...

Re: mileage

My first few years on the road saw some crazy miles. My first year had over 30,000. Over time that leveled closer to 20-25k. This year my mileage took a big hit. I've only put on 12,000 so far and I've been in the Jeep quite a few times a week now. Those are some crazy miles in any vehicle! Even if...

mileage

I noticed recently that I have ridden more miles this past year than my first two years combined :D It's still a paltry amount compared to others, but I'm happy that it's moving in the right direction! Did anyone else experience minimal first few years before taking off later?

Re: They've become squids...

As much as you don't want to see something bad happen to them, it's probably better for you not to ride with them if they are riding like squids. You want to try to steer them away from that(which you have), but when they don't listen(after several attempts) it's better not to be part of any trouble...

Re: First time at "highway speeds"

I took my ninja 250 on a 200-mile trip out around the smaller towns in the mountains around tucson. some very scenic 2-lane roads that get up to 65mph speed limit, it did just fine. didn't even have the fuel light come on. :) fuel light??? :? I usually fill up at around 180 - 210 miles, but I only ...

Re: I'm back

Glad you're back and still riding! You and RhadamYgg are two that I look for on the forum since you both started on Ninja250s at about the same time I did and live in northern NJ also. I actually currently work in Bloomfield too! If you ever want to talk bike stuff or whatnot, let me know. If you e...

Re: Should a Beginner Buy Gear without a Bike?

I took the BRC first and then bought a helmet, gloves, and jacket. I had work boots already. Then I bought a bike. Unfortunately, the first set of gear that I bought were all sized wrong(even with research and reading, I still messed it up). I've since replaced the helmet, I still use the jacket sin...

Re: Got confirmation of the need to wear earplugs, yesterday

I wish I could wear earplugs but I have a problem with wax. Many people in my family have tubes surgically installed in their ears just to avoid the buildup problem. If I wear earplugs all that happens is I get an ear infection eventually :\ That's too bad! But I do find that wearing a full face he...
