Re: Hard to find bike?

My wife likes her Hyo Comet...but wants a fairing for longer rides. Bearing that in mind, just about everything else is wide open. I've been of little help, since I know scooters better than motorcycles. Her requirements: Not an enormous, heavy bike. (No Goldwings!) Not a sportbike. Full fairing wi...

Re: How many crashes in how many years?

2 onroad in 40+ years and >650,000 miles.

Too many to count on the 12 or 13 years of dirtbiking/desert racing. (Sometimes 2 per day...) Yeah, I was a lot younger...

Re: Discuss: Bikes you have owned, your favorite and why?

Owned about 20 bikes, over the years. Can't really tell you which one is/was my favorite. I like my Triumph Tiger 800XC quite a bit though.
I still have < a million miles on bikes, but I'm getting closer everyday! :kicking:

As with any "new" conspicuity device, it is very effective until they become common place. Then, it's "same 'ol, same 'ol."

Re: Discuss: How you do feel about other riders who showoff?

Depends on what the "showoff" is doing. Stunts on the public roads/highways? Not so much. AMA Pro roadracers that follow the laws while riding on the street are the smoooooothest riders out there. They haul buns around various tracks, six days a week, for 12 months a year. Year after year after year...

Buying a bike with a dubious past (ie. salvage title) without a thorough inspection could be suicide. Get it checked out before you buy.

Looks like a fun ride, for the road. If you plan on using that bike for offroad travel, it will do it, but not as proficiently as a dual sport bike might be.

Re: You are a Beginner and want a 600cc+ sportbike? READ THIS!

A new rider that buys a 600 supersport will develop more slowly than a rider that gets a "more forgiving" motorcycle.

Imagine learning "clutch control" on a YZF/ZX/CBR/GSXR....

Re: I am going to a funeral and need to wash my bike - please advize.

Not the best strategy to neglect the machine that you ride.

Cleaning a bike does two things~

1. It allows the owner to inspect the various systems that their bike holds, and~

2. It creates "familiarity" thus giving the rider piece of mind for when the bike needs attention.

Re: U-turns on an incline/hill

I saw the list from the op. From 40 years experiece (of going up & down hills.) When I teach a noobie about U-turns on inclines, I tell them "speed is your friend." I'm talking inclines of >10% BTW. One of the notorious parking lots is located @ The Aerial Tramway in Palm Springs. I've seen many bik...

Re: Help on Sportbike Depreciation, anyone??

Sportbikes from Asian companys depreciate at an alarming rate, which is odd since they are very good bikes.

Bikes from American companys hold their value very well, but are "less than stellar" when it comes to quality.

Damn if I can explain it...

Re: Too Hot in Turn

Front brake, rear brake, throttle down, "pin it", change gear whilst in turn, "trail" braking, "loading the front," using the rear to "settle" the front. These are all based on one thing~ available friction between the tire and the road surface. The street isn't the best place to discover "threshold...

Re: WHICH MODEL IS THIS?

TRIUMPH TR6? Yes I think you are right. From the pipes, it's probably a TR6C Obviously from the pre-Unit days and the motor looks late 50ish/early 60ish. I'm going to guess 1961 TR6C. :uk: EDIT: Actually C had the dual scrambler pipes didn't it? The pic is cut off but this one has the 2 into one ex...
