I have a 1999 SV650 and love it. I've only had it two weeks. but those two weks are bliss. It's light, easy on the wallet, reliable, Lots of aftermarket stuff (if you lean that way)and looks good too.

Great post guys!
I found a some dealers here in Richmond and purchased my EXO 400 recently. I love the fit will give a review after some time testing it.

Love the price! $120 (that's after tax)

Way to go.

No the tough part finding a suitable bike.

I passed my course over 2 weeks ago and now have my license but havent found that right fit yet. So far I like the suzuki GS500E. Am also thinking of a Bandit 400

I've never ridden it on a bike, but I used to love to drive Rt-5 between Richmond and Williamsburg. It's not a really long trip, or it wasn't for me coming out of Richmond. A bit longer for you I imagine. Stop at Indian Fields Tavern for lunch. (Mildly upscale)

I recently completed the course in Virginia ($105) and have bought myself a helmet already ($120 for a Scorpion helmet) I suggest you get a brand new Helmet as you would not know if the helmet was compromised on the internal safety foam by looking at it.

Haven't really priced the jacket and boots ...
