alcohol

I've heard of people putting rubbing or isotopic alcohol in their fuel tanks. What is this all about and is it something that is helpful or should be done?

Ok, a few people here at work ride, and I was speaking with one of them, he rides an R1 now and his first bike was a GSX-R750. He says that a couple of his friends got CBR600F4i's for their first bikes. Now I just don't know what I want to get, I've been looking at the Katana 600 because after looki...

Well, I'm looking at the GS500F but how is the Katana 600 for a beginner? I like the look better better but unless it is also a good beginner, will stick with the GS500F.

Well, for my birthday today, I went to my local Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha dealership for a learning/dream session and looked at all the sportbikes they had. Tried on a few of them, and just sitting on the F4i, I could feel how much I had to learn before I could handle a beast like that. I also sa...

Thanks, sounds like when I worked as a Field Service Technician, I would go out with, "This is a computer, this is the keyboard. etc." Good to know they start with the extreme basics, as you can see, until I posted here, I didn't even know where the foot brake was or how to shift.

The ride to work is only about 15 miles, most of it Interstate 75 here in Atlanta. Also, I go to work around 0600 and go home around 1500 so it's not exactly rush hour either way. I admit I have been a bit leary of getting the 250 because it does look small. My wife, who has ridden various bikes fro...

I've been planning to hit one of the bike shops in the area as soon as I can, hopefully tomorrow. Pathetic, for my birthday I'm gonna go sit on a bike and dream..... lol. I've got time, I won't be getting the bike till sometime towards the middle of September. Until then, it's dream, ask questions, ...

It's actually quite sad that the possibility is there. I know in the area I live (suburbs of Atlanta, GA) I see more people on the surface streets in shorts and a t-shirt (but wearing a helmet) than I do with any sort of additional riding gear. I have even seen the occasional person riding in sandal...

Thank you. I was curious but since I haven't found a suitable first bike yet, I haven't been able to experiment. I would like to know as much as possible before my first ride so that I am that much more prepared.

Total Newb Questions

New biker questions to follow, please be gentle. 1.) Could someone tell me where the rear brake is located (I don't have a bike yet and probably won't have a chance to start learning until shortly before or at the same time that I go for my MSF course in about a month or so). I know some bikes have ...
