collector plates

Have just gotten a 1977 gl1000(goldwing) and am interested in getting collector plates for it if I can. Anyone on here from BC have collector plates. Would like to know if the bike has to have original paint scheme, or if a new paint color is okay. Also want to know if the original tank and side pan...

Have not been able to find similar and anything I was interested in just seemed to dissappear within minutes of being put up for sale. Frustrating as h..ll. I finally started ...

Kawasaki triples

My Honda cb650sc is in the shop and may be toast. I have been offered a pair of Kaw. 750 triples for a good price(their 76s) and am told they are in good shape. Any one have any info or opinions on these bikes. Ease of service, availability of parts etc. Any info appreciated. :D

:( Don't think they need a bailout. They're complaining cause they only made 65 million in profits for their investors last year. The poor buggers. I wish I'd only made 65 million last year.

turn signals

Ya you have your power wire connected to the running lights. Need to switch the wire over to the signal light wire. Put a meter on the wires left over from your conversion. Turn on the signal lights and see which one blinks. Thats the one ya want. Easy to do when going from 3 wire connection to a 2 ...

rpms

4500 to 5000 rpms and up is the area the bike has quickest reponse. But I only use that range for getting up to speed, then I generally shift to a higher gear and lower rpms. It makes a difference in the mpg. and I can easily shift down for passing. I wouldn't suggest going much below 3000 to 3500 i...

won't start

Hate to admit it it, phoned the wife from work for a boost. Went out to start the bike lights but no turnover at all. Checked wires , kill switch etc. Realized just before the wife got there I'd left it in gear. My 83 nighthawk won't do nada for starting if its in gear even with the clutch pulled in...

gas milage

83 cb650sc nighthawk. Rebuilt carbs, new cam chain, new air filter, oil and filter. Decreased fuel milage. Not that much of a change but enough to be noticable.Used to get 200 klicks or better per tank, now getting 175klicks. Have some fluctuation in the idle adjustment; set the idle at low starting...

I changed from a leather glove to a pair of Extrication gloves( used by Fire fighters in Auto extraction) Kevlar palms and finger tips. Kevlar knuckle protection with Kevlar and steel at the first knuckle. Similar to a good set of mechanics gloves but a little better made. Not cheap but one of the b...

oil in clutch

I've been told by my mechanic not to bother using syn oil in my 83 nighthawk. Won't do any good and might actually do some harm. Speaking of clutchs, on my 83 650 I have to remove the motor from the bike and split the case to do any repairs such as replacing the clutch plates. Hope I never have to d...

Don't give it any throttle tilll its warmed up a bit. If you throttle it and it dies. Start it up again without any throttle leaving the c...

drum/disc

Drum brakes are just fine for a bike that size. If you don't like them (fronts)it's not that hard to replace them with discs. Just a ? of changing over the lower part of the front forks.

tranny

I had a similar problem with my 83 650 nighthawk. Turned out it was the shifter fork which then caused some wear on the gears. I found that 83 550 nighthawk parts fit just fine. I wonder if it is the same for the 750. Lots of tranny parts for these bikes are discontinued( honda doesn't make them any...
