Yep, it's definitely being sold. Having second thoughts now that I can ride it! But alas I'm trading it in for a stroller.

Just thought I'd post an update. I ended up purchasing a new carb, and now it's running fine.

Aftermarket carb?

I've given up on my carb and I'm going to just buy a new one. The dealer wants $400. I can't seem to find any source of aftermarket carbs online. Is this a dealer only thing? Could use some tips. Thanks!

More drama. I replaced the manifold/carb coupler, no difference. I cleaned the carb AGAIN, still nothing. So I sprayed carb cleaner directly into the intake, and it fired right up. All the lines going into the carb are clear. After it sits a while, it will run for a few seconds, then bog down and di...

Yes, I cleaned out the petcock and filter and checked everything for good flow. Seems that everything is good up until the carb.

I plan on pulling apart the carb, soaking it, and now (from these suggestions) running some thin wire through the jets. I've got my fingers crossed!

Yep, tried it with the tank open. Checked the hoses and filters, it all runs clean. I've cleaned out the carb twice. The boot still needs replacing though, as its chopped up inside. I don't know how much a new carb will cost me (need to call HD). Been way too busy lately at home to mess with the bik...

Haven't had much time to work on this thing. I might just buy a new carb and boot and, if that doesn't work, stick a sign on it that says FREE BIKE and roll it into the street. :frusty:

LOL, well thats probably true. Oh, and I also took it apart last night and inspected the rubber boot from the carb to the intake, and it's pretty worn out and chopped up inside. Guess I'll have to get a new one of those as well. I've been doing more research and supposedly a bad boot can cause...

Yes, I completely drained the tank and put fresh gas in it.

I have the FSM and it doesn't really suggest anything in the troubleshooting portion. Not sure what the floats are set to. As I said, I probably do not have the skill to correctly diagnose a carb problem. Taking it apart, spraying it out, and putting it back together is about as far as I can get. Un...

It's an autochoke. I guess something would be wrong with it. I don't know how I could check that.

Update... So far I have cleaned the carbs (twice), cleaned the fuel strainer, changed the spark plug, put fresh gas in it, cleaned out every single rubber tube I can find, cleaned the petcock, gave it a new battery (it was nearly dead), cleaned the air filter and air box, adjusted the throttle cable...

Thanks for the tips. I cannot believe I didn't think of something as obvious as the fuel filter! The air filter is nice and clean. On my to do list for this week: Blow out tank vent; remove and clean out petcock; replace spark plug; replace fuel filter. Now that I think of it (starts after sitting f...

Will not run - probably carb problems

I'm at my wits end with this bike now! The bike had sat for a quite a few months during the winter season. I intended to ride it, but somehow never managed to. So now I am trying to sell the thing, and I can't get it to run. It ran like a champ before it sat. If it sits for a while, it wi...

Monday Miles: 10,104 Mood: :bag: Confession #93- My bike doesn't know I'm going to sell it. So I have decided to sell my motorcycle. After a couple years of commuting, it has simply become easier to drive a car to work. Maybe it's laziness. Nevertheless, the bike has been sitting in the garage for q...

Funny how global warming just popped up on us this year after being politicized to death. Who knew Earth's climate was tied to election years?

Gas mileage is my #1, with emissions coming in at a close 2nd.

I'd like to see a bike get 100mpg, minimum.

If he really wants to stick it to them, I bet he would have a case against them to collect some kind of damages. They would have had a verbal contract and if he did any work for them under that assumption, he could sue them for breach of contract.

Just a thought :)
