Re: First bike advice for short rider

a 250 you will grow out of in a year is only an issue if you buy it brand new. There is a high turnover rate for those bikes and you could likely buy used and sell used and only 'spend' a few hundred on the bike over 6 months of easing into riding. Thoughts though if you want to skip that step: yama...

Sizing Risers

Hi friends, I did a board search and was surprised I couldn't find this answer so here I am. I think I need risers on my bike. i know that i have to consciously droop shoulder/arm to get to the right height. This leads me to believe that I would indeed benefit from raising my bars up a bit. Does thi...

Re: LA, behind bars

June 9th Ok, where were we?! Took some advice from a fellow rider to avoid the last of the road into Fort Bragg at night. Said it was quite technical, narrow and poorly lit. Glad I heeded it and stopped outside of that last nit of highway. It was a super fun road to ride and I am glad to have enjoye...

Re: The Riding Game!

Sadly there are lots of stores closing down around my small LA suburb. I may go out and win this challenge tomorrow but I can't say I'll celebrate it!

Re: New wannabe rider, stumped by questions lol

Hi there and welcome to TMW and to Riding! Your concern and worry is just and its obvious you are taking the right steps with the right attitude. I would be most curious how you felt after your course. Living in a VERY hilly area I had some of the same fears. Yet after my two weekend MSF course most...

Trip miles: 1133 Miles YTD: 1603 Miles Lifetime: 4956 Monday June 6th, Spent two days in Seattle with friends and seeing some sights. Kind of wish I had ridden up to Vancouver BC or over to say bainbridge island for some cool cruising. Though after two LONG days on I-5 it was quite nice to have some...

Re: LA, behind bars

I KNOW! I may just have to ride over and get that pic real quick tomorrow morning. I also saw an Irish bar with Mc in the name so i can get in on the riding game. I tend to pack very lightly when i travel, but this was a new kind of traveling and i wasent sure what i would need. I don't know why it ...

Re: LA, behind bars

I started a week long motorcycle trip. The route is Los Angeles to Seattle up the main interstate. Then spend the rest of the time cruising down the coast highway at an enjoyably slow pace with stops in Portland, Fort Bragg, San Fran and Santa Barbra. Thursday 6/2: 13344562_10154166609865912_5758805...

Miles YTD: 467 Miles Lifetime: 2821 Lots to write about tonight. Yesterday I went on my longest ride to date. 358.9 miles. It was awesome. Started early and took a ice cold instate though the valley to get to the desert. Ended up on a small two lane desert highway for 118 miles. It was a blast. Road...

Re: LA, behind bars

Did this get resolved? I gotta say, I have dropped the ball just a bit here. I still haven't had it looked at. I am taking it in for its 4K maintenance next week after my desert ride. It hasent had a single hiccup since that night and while it should get checked out I have been a bit lazy in gettin...

Miles YTD: 299.2 Miles Lifetime: 2653 My saddle time as of late has really fallen off. My schooling this term was 3 full days a week, leaving me with 3 full days at work and one day to kind of recover. With the rain coming down I can hardly even commute on the poor girl. None the less, i did find a ...

Miles YTD: 6.2 Miles Lifetime 2354 Winter here in the State Battered by the El Nino to end all El Ninos trudges on. While there has been perhaps 10 rainy days there are still many 75 degree days that allow me to pull the scoot out and take her for a spin. Even if just to work. I added a sissy bar ba...

Re: New to riding and the site

Hi there chris!! Love the look of those older classic cruisers coated in leather! Glad to have another laid back rider here! Pics can indeed be a pain to post i have found as well. Either you have to lower your settings on your camera phone, or take HD pics but 'screen capture' them on your phone. t...

Re: Tall guy help

any HD sportster is going to be too small. I am 5'10 210 and the 883 feels cramped and would need major risers to get the bars up to my level. the 1200 would perhaps be doable, but for a first bike that is too much. v star could work. a man of your height though could do well on a standard or dual s...

These are what i am using till the spring. http://www.revzilla.com/product/alpinestars-c-1-windstopper-gloves-2009 they do a damn good job of keeping my hands warm in the morning. For reference it has averaged about 35-45 degrees this last month when i leave for work at 5am. My digits are fine in th...
