I took the MSF course in long island NY this weekend, they told us to expect the document in a couple of weeks, I'm excited for that to happen. But to be perfectly honest I still dont feel totally ready to own a bike yet. I'd love to be able to get out on a 600-750cc bike for a couple of days first ...

Just wanted to update everyone, I just took my MSF class though TRAMAS here in NYC. It was a very good expierence, I highly recomend the class to anyone interested in riding who has little to no exp. the class was well executed and professional.

Once again, as the person who asked the original question, thank you all for your input. I'm going to use this site as one of the primary places where I get input over the next few months/years.

as a fellow NYer, I say man up, take the course, a few hundred bucks is nothing in the grand scheme of things. if you learn ONE thing from the exp it will be worth it.

Yes its more expensive here, but EVERYTHING is more expensive here.
