I have a 2000 and I average about 45 mpg on the highway. I usually stop for gas approximately every 150 miles and still have a good bit of reserve.

I personally don't think a 1600 is TOO big for a beginner. It all depends on you. My first bike was a V-Star 1100 and it was no problem at all. I just spent a few days riding around parking lots and back roads to get used to the weight. I have been riding it for almost two years with no problems. Ho...

I work on the SCADA/Automation side of the oilfield and find myself at drilling rigs and/or gas plants/compressor stations, etc. almost daily. Luckily I start and finish my day at the office, so riding to work isn't a problem for me, but if you are on locations for more than a day at a time, you mig...

I don't know much about Ethanol, but what I do know is that it supposedly doesn't burn as well in a higher performance engine. For instance, in smaller airplanes that are authorized to burn auto fuel, you have to burn fuel without ethanol because supposedly your engine can putter out mid-flight. (No...

I for one don't think that you will be happy on the Rebel. I am only 5'11" and 270 lbs. and just sitting on the Rebel at a dealership was uncomfortable. It just feels tiny. I did the MSF course on a Nighthawk 250 and didn't like the feel of that one either. I ended up getting a V-Star 1100 Clas...

Need a Stator

I need a new stator for my V-Star 1100 Classic and Yamaha wants $315 or some websites are asking around $305 (about the same by the time I add shipping). I have not had to buy parts for my bike yet, but I was wondering if there is somewhere to get refurbished parts like you can do for cars or trucks...

I wish I did my MSF in the cold! It was about 110 degrees F on the pavement when I did mine in August in Texas! And having to wear long sleeve shirt, long pants, gloves and a helmet just makes it that much hotter. We were having to take breaks every 15-20 minutes just to keep everyone hydrated. Cong...

I wouldn't worry so much about the power. I went from the 250 in the MSF course to an 1100 with no problem. The thing to watch out for is the weight difference. It took a while to get use to the difference in turning and low speed handling. Congrats. Looks like a nice bike.

I tested for resistance between the battery terminal and the ground cable that comes off of the battery and read 0 on my multimeter. Is this a sufficient test of the ground? Or are there further tests that I can perform for that?

Thank you

Nothing electrical works except horn

2000 Yamaha V-Star 1100..... I was a few miles from home last weekend after a 175 mile ride and I looked down and noticed that none of my electrical was working... digital odometer, speedometer, turn signals, headlamp, tail lights.... Nothing. The only thing that was working was the horn, and of cou...
