Re: Doin' it all wrong! Now what?

What can/should I work on before the class? What can I do now to make it easier on me that I won't have to unlearn in the class? Work on not riding the motorcycle at all until you pass the class. Work on selling it and getting a smaller bike to start with. Work on NOT listening to other replies whi...

Re: SCgurl's First Big Ride Out

And my boyfriend? He failed his permit test today. I told him to take the MSF class first. But did he listen? Noooooo.... :frusty:  Good. While your know-it-all boyfriend is failing, another guy comes along and takes you out riding with him. I so love that! Congrats on your progress. With ridi...

Re: passengers...

I am buying my first bike soon. Most likely it will be a 2000s 250cc cruiser by a japanese manufacturer. Ive read ppl say that to carry a passenger you need at least 650-800cc. I don't plan on much hwy riding alone on this thing, I live in a small college town, with some small hills, and slow traff...

I think the Harley Sportster is one of the crappiest bikes ever designed. It's the most top-heavy bike I've ever been on.

That being said, lots of people love them.

So, if you feel comfortable on it, go for it and have fun. But check out a LOT of bikes and learn to ride before you buy anything.

Remember the advice of Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid?

"Either karate do - yes. Or karate do - no. You karate do - guess so - sooner or later, get a squished, just like grape."

Don't ride if you're wishy-washy about it.

Don't think you want to ride. Know you want to ride.

1. Tell me about the brakes. I think I'm favoring the front brake. Any suggestions?
Stop that.
graymojocat wrote: 2. Tell me about shifting. It was pretty rough. How do I make it smooth? Also, how do I know for sure when to shift and downshift? (especially the downshifting).
Practice.

There is nothing special or unusual about the page. Plain old HTML launched with a standard JavaScript popup. If it won't load for anyone, perhaps your pop-up-blocker or security permissions for JavaScript are set really high.

thanks brackstone:) and everyone else, I agree I should have been paying more attention. Now that I keep thinking back and having flash backs I remember my handlebars wobbling and I panicked and pulled on the front break which I know you're not supposed to do. Excellent. Glad to hear it. That's exa...

it does worry me that you have no idea what happened. I agree. I'm also worried that you're the first person to be distrubed by that. There's always a reason. Ninja250grl, you need to pay attention more. Be conscious of what you are doing. Watch the road condtions. Think about your control inputs t...
