Welcome. I am jealous of your candy red CX500. I have that crappy teal and black color. As if that bike isn't ugly enough!

Hey, Kingfish. Hope you get it straightened out.

I'm with Big B that eBay may be your best bet, but you can also post a "wanted" note to the Chopper Charles CX500 forum, as I've had luck getting a larger gas tank there (if I can only make time to mount it...).

Here is the link to that site, and to ...

Update on roadtrip/lessons learned.

Hey, folks. You may recall a week ago I posted I was prepping to start a several week trip around the SE US, from Orlando to Greenville, SC, initially.

Well, I started, then I ended up aborting and switching to a cage for now...

I was planning to drive about 300 miles on a Friday evening, then ...

I just switched our auto insurance to Allstate from State Farm, and they gave me a great rate on my MC insurance too.

We've had State Farm forever (over 15 years for my wife-- her father was a SF rep), and still have them on our condo, but their auto rates in FL skyrocketed (as least in Orlando ...

Avoiding that would be like the goalie in a World Cup penalty kick-- you gotta choose a direction immediately, and hope you guessed the right one.

Hey, DieMonkeys. That sounds like a plan!

On the way up, I'm going to miss Charleston by going through Georgia to Macon then up to Greenville. But I think I will be going home (at some point) via I-26, through Charleston. I will keep you posted. It would be good to actually meet a TMWer face to ...

Thanks for the input, folks. I have made up an ICE card for my wallet, and am planning my trip on the longer route. I'm going to leave Friday afternoon and drive til I get tired, stop somewhere for the night, and then finish it up Saturday. Pretty excited, as this will be my first motorcycle trip. I ...

Planning my route...

Hey, folks. Sorry I have been "quiet" on the boards as of late. I had my CX500 "out of service" for about three weeks in June, to change both the tires, check the bearings, brakes, check & grease the shaft drive...

I'm back on the road now and loving it again. I have to say that good tires make a ...

On the flashlight theme-- I recommend buying one of the LED type miner's headlamps instead of a traditional flashlight. I have one I got from Target (an Eddie Bauer brand) and it is the bomb for all things camping and biking. It is extremely bright white light, can be held in your hand and used like ...
