Re: What did you do today...
Greetings from California (back in NYC for Memorial day and my B-day) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5149/5766610432_c77c38e6c4_b.jpg California and the Dodge Challenger have turned me into a Steve McQueen. I've been enduring a torturous examinations with the last one being on a borrowed Navy obstac...

Re: E for Effort..and an EF for Epic Fail
I don't see a problem with it. I've seen people who get sponsored to race with only a year or so riding under their belt and they weren't really any good.

Re: Have used bike prices stablized from last year or even l
Kawasaki has been aggressive at moving their bikes on the sales floor. Pricing, rebates, financing, cash incentives, etc. Used bikes are also pretty darn cheap now. I look through craigslist and find bikes that are in good shape and the asking price is very low from what I would expect at the dealer...

Re: 2010 Manual Stick Shift Cars (manual transmissions) list
My brother and I share a Mazda 3 and it has Tiptronic-like semi-auto transmission. It's great if stuck in backed up traffic and you don't want to deal with a clutch but other than that I couldn't deal with it. Going from 1st to 2nd gives me a jolt that I wouldn't get in a manual transmission. It pre...

Re: Why are Harleys cool?
Ahh, the Brits already did a nice study on the use of ABS in a magazine, either Visor Down or BIKE. All I can remember is the chart showing that ABS had the lowest braking distance compared to both brakes, front only and rear only. Though many of them would turn it off when taking their bikes off ro...

Backpacked all weekend, woke up this morning to realize me and one of the dad's on the trip had pitched our tent in a dip :?. At least the standing water was mostly on his side . But in all seriousness we had thick enough sleeping pads it did not bother us until we were awake, so not too bad. ...

Re: What did you do today...
Damn, my dad is being all pissy with me because he thinks I have all this money to go on trips which he thinks the one to California is my vacation. I come home to ask a favor or talk about whatever to my brother or mom and he becomes real annoyed and demands that I start supporting my sister if I h...

Re: Good Morning / Goodnight
I would love to be called away for work, any time, any day as it gives me a sense of purpose. Being at home it hits me that I have no life. Employers love me though, I am very flexible when out of school and in school I would fill up my schedule with any science lab/ Forensics Lab I can take as they...

Good luck Wrider (yes I know I said it on Facebook as well) considering the job would fit you like a glove. Just discovered more of my friends and most of my family have given up on me leading me to the danger of constantly contacting the ones I have left to hang out only to leave them very annoyed ...

Re: 2010 Manual Stick Shift Cars (manual transmissions) list
You know, I searched out for renting a manual transmission car for my stay in California to no avail. I, for some reason, hate driving automatic. Even if I'm tired, the manual drive keeps me engaged.

I thought the Yamaha FJR AE was doing well in terms of sales. Then there's the DCT Honda VFR 1200 and Aprilia Mana.

Re: Budget Jacket and Boots
My leather jacket is supposed to only be water resistant but it takes a hell of a soaking before it lets any moisture through. Of course the jacket does get a bit heavy when wet and it doesn't smell to pleasant in that condition. I bought it from a small company at the International Motorcycle Show....

Re: Why are Harleys cool?
I have always like the idea "The simplier the better", or K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid rule. Less to break, less to worry about, less cost and more reliablility. It's doesn't work for everything, but it does work. I'll even take a car with roll up windows and manual door mirrors in standard trans...

Tonight, violent thunderstorms, then back to more "normal" mid-50's temps. Good old NJ in spring...... We were at 62°F... ...

Re: Saftey at a Harley Biker Bar
LOL.. is that true? AMF that used to own Harley-Davidson is the same AMF that owns Bowling Alleys? AMF was quite a powerhouse in its heyday; they were involved in NASA space projects, made bombs and other munitions for the US military, large scale food processing eqiupment and systems, etc, etc. Bu...

They have composite toe boots that are lighter and just as strong... and don't show up on metal detectors.... Have you tried those? What brand (if so), do you like them? Mike I have tactical Magnum boots that contain a composite toe protector and non-metallic shank. It holds up as well as steel toe...

I was never a fan of alcohol... couldn't stand the taste. The few that I tolerate and actually like are Stella, Blue Moon and Corona, my asian family has a thing for Tsingtao. Even though I dislike alcohol, I have this weird admiration for whiskey (the American, Irish, whatever) because I love the a...
