The whine is coming from the pinion gear bearing in your shaft drive housing. Have replaced several due to this. Check the mating service of the shaft housing and mount housing for signs of a oil leak. Get it checked out ASAP. The bearing .literally comes apart and all the debri is hanging out in th...

With the throttle hanging, check your throttle cables and make sure the throttle pulley is returning all the way to the idle screw stop. Also it may be a lean condition. Try turning out your mixture screws to richen up the idle circuit.

Yes, you should be able to replace it with a o-ring chain. Don't skimp on the price, though. You get what you pay for when it comes to chains. Expect to pay around $130 just for the chain. And always replace the chain and sprockets as a set. Never one at a time. Our shop charges a hour and a half fo...

I'd say you just pissed your money away on a beat up starter clutch. Starter clutches don't like any abnormalities. Please pull out your wallet and do it right the first time and buy a NEW ONE  Not being harsh, you never know if you don't try. I just like doing a job ONCE. Good luck.

I mean the two long outside bolts that hold the actual starter motor assy. together. One should be visible at the very top of the starter running lengthwise across. Upon viewing the bolt and starter, I noticed the top bolt appeared angled to the left, meaning, it appears the starter was trying to r...

If they are drain hoses, they will be at the bottom of the float bowls. If they are on the side of the carbs, they are vent lines are are supposed to vent to atmosphere. If they get pinched, don't plan on driving very far.

It sounds like the charging system is good. If the V-Star in question is an 1100, they have a problem of twisting the starter motors. Look at the long bolts that hold the starter assy. together and make sure they are straight, not twisted. Also the starter will make an "clunking" noise wh...

I think your bike has a vacuum operated fuel petcock so when you are totally out of gas, it takes awhile to get fuel back into the carbs. Turn the petcock to prime (PRI on the petcock), this gravity feeds the carbs and should make it easier to start and accept throttle with the float bowls full. Tha...
