I just took mine for a ride and reved it in neutral and it did rev all the way to 9000 and started sputtering around 5500 while in gear. I know that I have already done the tune up and checked gap on valves and plugs and it still does it. I've even done a compression check and they're all 100 across...

I own a cb 900c and have the same problem at that rpm. I did a rebuild on the engine and ended up keeping the same valve lifter springs, the only thing that I can think of is that the springs are weak and at that rpm the valves are starting to float. I could be wrong, but after 25 yrs. of compressin...

I have switched back and forth from low to high and low is worse(of course) for highway driving. flynrider is right about the subtrans. w/the shaft drive which drew me to the bike in the first place, thinking that I could get great response in low and great milage in high gear. If I run the bike in ...

bike runs at 5000 rpm on highway
I have a cb900 custom with a dual subtrans. The bike runs great but once I run through the gears and get to fifth it seems like the bike is reving to high, and I don't have the greatest mpg. at 55 I'm at 4500rpm, and at 70 I'm just over 5000rpm's! Is this normal for this type of bike? Is there a dif...

Once I had checked it I found that there was none and ground the shims so there was the proper amount... the bike runs like a CHAMP! thanks again, I don't thi...

I have cleaned the carbs since my last post, checked the timing and re-verified that the cams are in the proper position. I can get the bike to ...

what if you had your bike running prior to a rebuild, took it apart reseated valves, new-same size rings and a hone job, put it back together, got it in the bike and it would run for 30 seconds only if the choke was on and you gave it some throttle and then fouled out the plugs? is it still carbs? a...
