how important are the torques given
Hi there, so I picked up a torque wrench for 20 dollars from an autosupply store, so I of course took it right out and changed the oil and filter on my bike. I turned the wrench to the specified torque, but lo and behold the oil leaked out so I had to tighten the bolt further. So it turns out 14.5 f...

ninja 250 '03 loud rattle in right exhaust pipe
Hi there all, So I picked up a ninja 250 (2003) because it fits down the hurricane doors into my basement where I've now stored it and am getting ready to do some serious work on it (the previous owner laid it down a lot and didn't maintain it very well at all lots of rust and that sort of thing). B...

How old is too old?
So I bought a really fun bike after finishing my MSF course and have had a great time with it over the past couple of months, a 1982 CB750k to be exact. Perhaps a bit big for a beginner but the weight slowed it down a bit and I've ridden dirt bikes since I was a kid. In any event, I've sold that bik...

smoke/hot pipes/leaky exhaust joint
Hi there, so I tipped over my bike (1982 Honda CB 750k) trying to fix it, left it lying there for about a half hour while I hopped around on one leg trying to find ice for my shin etc. Well, I gave it a day to let everything drain out that might have flooded in, and when I started it today, it start...

i'm dumber than i thought
Looking for how to fix the horn, I discovered in the back of the book that there is a supplement tucked away there that deals with the '82 version of these bikes, which are, apparently, completely different from the other four years of the cb750's production. Problem fixed, pride hurt!

further question
Heya, thanks for the reply. So I've removed the balance line you mentioned, the one strung between the two fork caps. Unfortunately, the caps aren't the same as the ones in the manual either. Where there should be bolts that can be unscrewed, here the cap is flush with the rim of the fork, I've trie...

fork oil change/seal
Alright, this is going to make me look like an idiot, but I've already checked all the thread headings in this section and couldn't find the answer. I just bought a Honda CB 750k from 1982, and I also bought the Clymer Manual from bike bandit. The front suspension is washy, and one of the forks has ...

used bike costs
Hi there, sorry if this has been posted before, but i couldn't find it when i searched. So, I'm a new rider and looking for a cheap, small (250-500cc) used bike, but the cheapest bike I've been able to find is an '82 Yamaha Seca that needs carburetor work (which I don't mind doing, my bro works on b...
