Need help on two HJC helmet differences

I'm looking at two modular helmets within the HJC product line. The differences elude me and please note I could care less about blue tooth abilities. First is the HJC IS-Max. $269 at revilla. Second is the HJC SysMax. $189 at revilla. Both are modular, both have a slide down sun visor. These are th...

Looking for info on greater deals gap area for next year

Is there a book for bikers that summarizes the various bike routes, hotels etc with contact info that is not made by the tourism boards? Most of what I see is a huge advertising pile of overlapping services and products with no coordination between them. I don't want to go down there and with my six...

Need help for long term winter bike

I'm looking to get a bike to ride during the winter in Northern Il. Yes it snows, we have ice, pot holes, sand/salt and tar snakes. I don't plan on riding when there is a fair amount of ice. The aspects of the bike I'm looking for is in keeping with the KISS principle. -Single cylinder four cycle -S...

Anyone rent a bike for vacation at another U.S. city?

I'm thinking of a summer vacation flying to Vegas and renting a bike. 1. Do any rental services have a bike pickup and dripoff at the airport? 2. If so what was your rental cost, type of bikes offered and experence? 3. Any road serviced offered and how much extra? 3. What U.S. cities have you done t...

Battery tender JR. and use of timer

I use the Battery Tender Jr after I replaced my 6 month old battery this past spring. I've been very happy with it and being able to see the state of the battery when I first hook it up and after a short time later. Bike and battery will remain outside but completely covered from rain/snow/wind. I h...

Re: Is the Era of the Motorcycle Over?

I guess I can see for some materialistic people that having the latest objects is the focus of their lives. So Idevices, mamoth flat screen TV's with surround sound amoungst other itmes does displace money for a bike that was never a dream for them. Having a bike has always been a dream of mine befo...

300 Amp jump starter Is it worth $30 ?

I found a new 300 amp jump starter from Peak but have not seen it myself, just in paper. So I don't have the details on keeping it charged up, like does it have a built in trickle charger. What I would like your opinions on is 300 amps enough to not just start a bike that is too heavy to be bumped (...

Re: Wind Noise = deal breaker

If you can't find ear plugs that reduce the issue to a acceptable level, have you tried a tall windshield? It forces the air above your helmet so the wind hitting you isn't 65 mph. I've ridden a bike with a standard height windshield that kept the bugs off my helmet but still buffetted my head at hi...

Re: Touring purchase advice, 250 horror, and more!

The C50/M50 are very good bikes. Plenty of power to do 80 plus all day, plenty of room for you, with add on's will be a nice touring bike, shaft drive (lower maintenance), passenger will do fine as long as the 2 up trips are not long (no touring). the smallish pillion is the problem. Before any seri...

Re: Underglow Lighting & reflective stickers

You can always stop in at your local PD and just ask. At least if you get pulled over where you got your info form. Being honest and straight forward can help out at times you could really use it.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: Touring purchase advice, 250 horror, and more!

Changing to another of your topicss is the next bike. There are several good 500 cc bikes out there but I'm not aware of any made for long distance with another rider. Buying any bike you need to have it looked over by someone that is not interested if you buy it or not, even if you have to pay for ...

Re: "Casual" Rider - yes or no?

You don't need to accept any "trends". But you also don't need to pass judgement on anyone else's riding choices. We all make judgements about people we see everyday, we may not say it aloud but we do. But a saftey twit, is a twit, no matter what wrapping you put around it. We have all seen them. S...

Re: Who Builds the best bikes?

It may seem like nit picking but you need to define "best motorcycle" so the comparision is based on the exact same bases. To me the best is a combination of the following: 1. Design and preproduction testing 2. Quality of its piece parts then its assemblies 3, Quality of the final assembly 4. Accep...

Re: Aftermarket exhaust & sliders for 2007 Honda 919

What I can tell you is when I met Jason Britton and his other riders, I asked about mods on their bikes. One is they all use six inch sliders and if they didn't they be replacing expensive plastic panels after every show. It keeps the bikes looking great after every drop. Also if bike lands on their...

Re: Looking for Jacket in Hot, Cold and rainy conditions

I have a all but July and August jacket now. So I get too tempted to not wear the jacket when it hits 90. I was hoping for a jacket that I could remove liners for hot weather that also had a thin rain liner as well.
