How many miles are on the bike? Why do you think the carbs need to be cleaned? I've got over 15,000 on my Rebel and at every oil change I put an oz or 2 of gumout in the tank. The bike runs like new. Guess I should have given a little history about the bike. I just bought the bike with 229 miles on...

MINNESOTA Riders: Please Help!

A shout out to the Minnesota Riders!! I need your help locating a respectable motorcycle shop in the Northwest Metro area. My 2003 Ninja 250 needs to have the carbs cleaned. There’s a shop in Fridley called A & M Cycle that I’ve done business with before and have been really happy with the servi...

Ninja 250 Frustration!

2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250 Frustrations! I posted a thread a couple weeks ago regarding a Ninja 250 I bought for commuting to and from work. Yes it’s a “chick bike” but it’s a lot of fun to ride. The bike had 226 miles on it and obviously it had been sitting most of its life. The previous owner stated ...

Carb Cleaner & Gas Mileage

Hello all, Need your advice with a couple things. I just bought a 2003 Ninja 250 that had only 229 miles on it... not even broken in yet. When I was speaking to the lady who I bought it from, she mentioned that it didn't want to idle correctly. She described that the bike would only run with the cho...

I just bought a Ninja 250 for commuting to work. I've owned a lot of bikes over the years and the Ninja 250 is a fun bike to ride! So light... it's like riding a pedal bike with a motor. My "ride for the hell of it" bike it the Kawasaki ZRX1200. Fun to ride too but the Ninja 250 is in a di...

Seriously, the bike isn't broken in... my bike had a number of odd behaviors (e.g. the idle speed was impossible to set, jumping 300RPM at times) that went away after 1000 miles or so. I just bought a 2003 Ninja 250 that had 229 miles on it. This is exactly what I'm running into. Thinking the carbs...

Good question! I'm suprised that more people don't ask this question. I once owned a 1994 Yamaha FZR1000. The bike had a stock 180 rear tire. A lot of people changed it to a 170 rear. I also owned a 2001 Yamaha R1. The bike had a stock 190 rear tire. Some riders switched to a 180 rear. WHY? Like a p...
