And...nevermind. I got it all figured now, although it's still gonna take me the weekend to get the speed pickup affixed so that it works. Thanks, Mintbread, for all the help.

Yeah, the light comes on. All I'm saying is the new Acewell speedo seems to call for connections that weren't on the stock speedo (like Clock, etc) and I'm wondering if you found a way to adapt for those, or if you just connected what was available from the stock speedo and left off some of the more ...

Mintbread, thanks again for the help, and sorry to bring this up once again but regarding the wiring: For example, the speedo calls for a connection for Clock Power and Switch Key, neither of which were on stock. Did you just leave those off, or did you find some other way to run leads to power?

I ...

Yeah, might be I can do it on the sprocket; it's gonna take me a little while at any rate.

Mintbread: do you remember how you figured out the correct wiring for hooking up the speedo, with regards to neutral indicator, etc etc? It seems to me there's too many wires on the Acewell to match up with ...

Thank you for the quick response, but it seems my setup is a little different. If I can get a digital camera, I'll post pictures, but basically one of the areas like the one I've circled in your picture is closer to the center of the disc ("up" in your picture) than what you've got, and it doesn't ...

1990 Honda Hawk digital speedo installation

I need some help with the installation of a new Electrosport (well, actually Acewell brand) 3900 digital speedo in my 1990 Hawk GT. I've never put in a magnetic reed system, and was wondering if anyone here has and if so can tell me where best to mount the magnet and pickup.

The manual says the ...

Uh, axle? :) Actually, no, I didn't, but that's because I'm just trying to go exactly by the book on this. According to the manual, all I need to do is loosen the eccentric bearing carrier (via a nut on top) and rotate that, then retighten. Unless they're assuming information about the axle...?

Okay, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. But, what do I do if the wheel *isn't* aligned properly? (The sprocket teeth are fine; I have checked that.) I'll check the manual for wheel alignment, but those things are severely lacking in indices. Thanks!

I tightened the chain using a little adjuster tool (bearing carrier wrench) from the Hawk toolkit. A nut is loosened on the rear of the chain-holding mechanism (which Honda jovially refers to as the "eccentric bearing carrier") which allows it to be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise. If it's ...

I believe the wheel is straight, although I only believe this because before I tightened the chain, I didn't get any vibration whatsoever. Could the wheel alignment change due to the tightening of the chain?
