Re: New Biker with Bike Questions

Mostly, buying the bike you want for the price you want is a question of time and diligence. You will have to keep checking all those sites, and ebay, until what you are looking for shows up. What is the maximum you want to spend on a bike? I see the Ninja 250 isn't on your list, but with handlebar ...

Re: 650 suzuki savage

I don't think anyone was knocking the Savage/S40 here. It is a fine bike, but for any distance , everyone I know that had a choice over a thumper vs. a v-twin or inline 4 or triple always chooses one of the latter. In fact, one of the women here had an S40, and traded it in for a smaller displacemen...

Re: Ladies... I give you The Short Bike List!

If you want to stay with cruisers, try looking at the Kawi Vulcan 500cc, or the Honda Shadows (600-750cc). You will get used to the heavier weight with time, but if you have to work as hard as it sounds to get the bike off the stand, I would say it isn't fun. I had that happen to me when trying to s...

Re: WELCOME TO THE NEW TMW COMMUNITY FORUM!!!

I really like the look! Haven't tried any new features yet, but lemme just add that I'm glad you didn't end up with the black background/white text so many other forums have.

I'll put it in bold, so that those with contrast issues can see this. :D

It was pretty much ladies-only in Colorado. John wasn't interested in going, that's for sure. We are trying to increase his riding mileage this year, so it would be a question of time for me, with all the other rides we are trying to make. Not sure how I feel about intentionally excluding guys. I ha...

What's in MI that weekend? Oh, do you mean Milwaukee, WI? Call or FB me when you are heading my way! For me, the IWCF in Ontario trumps the HD thing, and despite what the invite says, I think the HD thing will be mainly HD. (Which I ain't.) I'm not sure I'll be able to swing the IWCF, but I aim to t...

also, i wish christians would have a faith like some of the suicide bombers have. not the strap a bomb to themselves, but to actually trust God and live for him. to trust that he will meet their needs and be willing to live simply so they can give almost all they have away so that others can simply...

There is no way that I'd consider riding one with a stranger. I would love to post more pics. Unfortunately, having begun installation of several updates recommended by Microsoft, my computer is having a major meltdown. MORE BIKES! This is an utterly beautiful Ural, handpainted in Russia by a woman who works at Ural. The owner is astride; she also owns the local Ural sidecare business. I'm sure to those who are old hands at motorcycle shows & rallies, this is nothing; certainly nothing new. But I had a field day oogling all the paint jobs at the conference. Look into throttle locks, such as by Vista or Kaoko. They allow you to give your hand a rest, or just reposition it, without completely dropping the throttle. Also, try on every pair of gel gloves you can, looking for ones whose seams avoid your numb spots. I went with Grip Puppies for my Versys, an...
