Re: My Buell Blast

I hear you Kuz about not wanting the Dealer to mess with your bike. There are 3 people in this world you need to keep happy - your spouse, your cook and your mechanic. Any of those 3 could do some serious damage to you if not fed and watered properly. I "almost" like the looks of the Blast but the f...

Doesn't the EXO-1000 have adjustable cheek pads? Works with an air pump similar to those Nike shoes.

Re: My Buell Blast

Some good questions there, wish I had some good answers for you. As for collectability of the Blasts, time will tell I suppose. They aren't exactly a rare bike to begin with. Was the dealer you bought it from a Harley rep? If it was they have an obligation to service that bike. Parts will be tricky ...

Re: The Stuff Biker Nightmares are made of...

According to a 2007 NHTSA report only 5% of motorcycle fatalaties were from being rear ended. I do not know the % of motorcyclists that have been hit like this and walked away but I suspect it's much higher than 5%. What we need are bikes that are made from Nerf material so we can shoot through the ...

Re: The Stuff Biker Nightmares are made of...

How many times have you guys seen those shows where someone runs in to the back of a patrol car that's lit up like a christmas tree? You know, the cruisers you can see from over a mile away? You can wear all the neon green in the world and rest assured some moron will still manage to run you down. I...

Re: New Bike Question

Thanks for all the replies. I will keep checking the forum so if you have more to add feel free. I agree Rhadam, it would be nice if dealers were required to break down their costs so I could see exactly what I am paying for. Why should you or I have to play the numbers game? Koji, I'm looking at a ...

Re: Who crashes more, Men or Women?!

The only way this works is if you get an equal number of women to answer the question. Looking at the answers so far you could say that women don't crash at all. Men who ride probably outnumber women 10 to 1. Maybe ask this question in the Ladies Lounge. Good luck with the survey

New Bike Question

I'm looking at buying a new bike and the dealer wants to charge me a $300 documentation fee. I assume this covers licensing and title transfer. My question to the Borg is, is there any reason I can't go to the DMV and do this myself? Do people typically haggle over this or do they just pay it along ...

Re: Favourite Motorcycle expressions/sayings...

I think Johnj was one of the first who said "Loud pipes annoy people". Man I love that. If it was up to me the fine would be a thousand bucks. Second time two thousand. Third time that's my bike now, thank you very much.

Re: Got confirmation of the need to wear earplugs, yesterday

Are most people here (hear? lol) who wear earplugs also wearing full face? I'd like to try it, just wondering if we are talking about half, open or full face helmets. I've tried riding without any helmet for short distances. All I can say is wow. The noise and the wind is unbelievable, not to mentio...

Re: The Easy Rider Route

Cool site Gummy. Someone spent alot of time doing the research and putting that together. This may be blasphemy to say on a motorcycle forum but I didn't really get Easy Rider. Maybe because I wasn't high as a kite when I watched it. Maybe I was in a foul mood at the time. It may be deserving of it'...

Re: A four wheeled motorcycle?

In my eyes anything with 4 wheels is not a motorcycle, I don't care what they say. This is a glorified ATV with street tires. Nothing new here at all.

Re: Rear Stand

It's not a strength issue as much as it is balancing the bike. I have the wife straighten the bike while I push on the rear stand. I might try the board trick if the wife ever leaves me but she does a good job so why risk a tip over. Sorry to hear about you dropping the bike Flipper. It's definitely...

I like how the grocery clerks put one thing in a bag that could easily hold several items. That would be another way for them to make money, buy 10 things and use 10 bags. Make the tax a dollar a bag, then you will see some action on that one for sure! Or make bags out of hemp. When you're done usin...

I'm with you Ceemes. I don't know if it will reduce bag usage but I think it's a great idea. I could see some old misers balking at the idea and carrying several armloads of groceries to the car. Works for me. Recycling those bags isn't free either. This would be a great way for grocery stores to re...

As a new rider I cannot stress how important it is that you get thee to a MSF course. Yes they are expensive. Yes they will kill your weekend. But what you get in return is worth the cost several times over. I have avoided two seperate accidents from specific techniques that I learned in the class. ...

I'm the same way. I can do basic maintenance myself but some things like changing tires, replacing fork seals or balancing carbs requires special tools and space that I don't have. I don't know if salesman assume anything when I walk in. If they do make assumptions of my knowledge (or lack of) they ...

Good posts by all, and some really good advice too. What salesmen need to do is put themselves in the shoes of the buyer. I would not expect a salesman to know what size sprocket is on a bike I'm interested in. But I would expect them to know some basic info like engine size, weight, HP, available c...
