haha, I'm just trying to be realistic. But I'm doing the best I can to keep the rubber side down!

Considering she was used, I only had one choice. Yellow. All fairings are in bad shape - can tell she's been down a few times (probably a few more times yet to come, I'm sure). When I get the hang of this better and feel like investing the time and money, I'm going to replace the upper fairings (I l...

Got the bike...

It's been a long time since I've been on the forum here. I finally got my bike on Wednesday. I'd been searching craigslist for months, mostly just looking for the sake of looking. I'm a cheapy and would rather not spend a whole lot on a first bike, since I know it won't be my last, and I know I'm go...

Gah, what is this guy's problem? I don't know what sort of experiences you've had with police officers, but you're definitely generalizing, and pretty harshly, at that. I did have one awful experience with being pulled over once for speeding. I was leaving a parking lot and had just turned on to the...

Same here - I put mine down (for whatever awful reason :frusty: ) during the figure-8 part. Yay for passing!

As for personal defense. Keep it simple: The side of your palm, delivered with FORCE to the adam's apple of an attacker, will render them unable to breath. The larynx can be crushed like an empty soda bottle. No matter if they're psycho or drugged out or bigger and stronger than you, they will go d...

Having just started out riding, I can't really offer any suggestions. But I notice that a lot of people here are encouraging you to take self-defense classes, even if only for the confidence factor. I would recommend AGAINST this (if confidence and a few moves to protect yourself are your only motiv...

Well, I did it. Almost didn't finish, but I did, and ended up with a score to brag about (sorry, but I have to, especially after the stressful weekend I've had...). Yesterday was rough. Was on a Virago 250. The thing kept stalling. And, of course (rightfully so), the instructor kept telling me to ea...

Oh, geez... I take the BRC today. I'm so excited, I've barely been able to sleep!

Did some more looking around in my "spare" time - what are everyone's thoughts on the GS500F as a starter bike? Still seems a little big. But I've seen more than a few people saying this was their first bike. Comments?

Thanks. Yeah, that's the only thing keeping away the total disappointment - I DESPISE the cold, and I really don't think I could handle riding in the winter months. (I wear jackets in July and August... and I'm in Texas...) Yeah, I really thought that anything above a 500 would be way too much. I've...

Well, bike day just got pushed away into the less-near future. I think I will wait until late March to get one. I'm really nervous about the economy and everything, so the less financial obligations right now, the better. Plus, I've found it to be a real pain to be approved for financing. I'm really...

Yeah, I feel rather fortunate. I remember looking at this one briefly online before I went out and started looking in actual stores for a helmet, and liked it, but I wasn't ready to spend so much on it. Since I've been home, I've found masses of great reviews on this helmet, so I'm really happy and ...

Oh my goodness! Maybe it's just because I'm a female. Or whatever. But there are certainly perks to whatever it is that made this happen today. I'm rather reluctant to use the helmets provided by the BRC people. I'm going to need my own anyway, so I wanted to get one before the course. I've heard un...

Thanks! I was a little worried that I might be biting off more than I can chew with the 650.

Hey Ladies! It's so exciting to see how many women out there actually ride their own bike. I'm just starting out -- I've got my eyes set on a V-Star Custom (650) and am taking the BRC on the 4th of October. Yay! This is a great forum! I hope to get to know you all and get lots of tips from the veter...
