Re: Rumbles before the grave

I have met some very interesting people and had a lot of odd conversations because of riding. I don't know what it is about motorcycling but we do connect with people of all walks of life and all varieties, and for just a few minutes we are one people again. Glad it wasnt JUST the VOICES in my head ...

Re: What did you do today...

Thanks high side. My bike was supposed to have the NEW great idea two piece design. I already took of the bolted on brackets and it receives the one piece seat nicely. Fellow down the road has an 83 let me slip it on to make sure. LIKE A GLOVE. I am thinking i might just jump at the cushy looking sa...

Re: Slightly underinflated is better than slightly over?

before any other commentary, let me state that, A motorcycle manufactures recommended pressures are for use with the original equipment tires. Different models or tires require different amount of air, even to do the same job. So The best thing is if you are using the bike as the manufacture designe...

Re: Thumper thumps too much

I am going with fuel restriction on this one. The idle circuit is likely restricted making it lean. Try sea foam 1 oz per gallon of gas. run one tank through it if it doesn't clear it up manual cleaning may be required. If the bike sat for more than a couple months at any point the whole ethanol pro...

reccomendations or warnings against different rain gear

After all these years of just dealing with it I want to purchase some rain gear. I think that a one piece suit will serve my needs best. I see Nelson Rigg fairly commenly online as well as joe rocket. My joe rocket meteor 6 jacket has served me well but I am not thrilled with its build quality same ...

Re: Annoyed!

A local battery SPECIALTY store sells lead acid, absorbed glass mat sealed and gel batteries. I have a very long running problem with them as they like to sell people stuff they don't need. The very intentionally damage new batteries knowing people will just buy another one in a year or two. The fil...

Re: 1999 CB750 Nighthawk

On another note, I spent about 9 hrs on my Nighthawk yesterday. I rode all over up one side of the Susquehanna river and back down the other. I got 55 Miles per gallon riding two up. I was thrilled with it in every way great power delivery at all rpm. EXCELLENT handling. MY bikes previous daddy put ...

Re: 1999 CB750 Nighthawk

BEWARE the NIGHT HAWK BACK REST FROM EBAY. The people they have manufacture their parts didnt copy the honda part in detail making it very difficult to install. I got mine on there but it took a lot of work. I had to make a jig to use a bottle jack to reshape some bends in it to make it fit right. A...

Re: What did you do today...

Today I received and started to install my backrest/ cargo rack for my Nighthawk. This thing was so contorted and improperly welded together I would up making a jig out of angle iron. Next I used my 2ton bottle jack to re-bend the trouble areas. Drilled the holes out to the right size and its now in...

Re: What did you do today...

I had my new michelins mounted on my Nighthawk today but it wont quit raining long enough to go ride. I always check over everything after anyone else touches my bike. After the tires were mounted I went out to look it over and noticed the they put the rear wheel in with the right side 1.5 marks far...

Re: How to get on and get off your motorcycle with a tailbag

When I rode with a tail pack last id pick my leg up like that too. For a 5'10" fluffy guy that gets some weird comments. I wouldn't be brave enough to stand on a peg like that. It is likely that I would wind up standing the bike back up as my weight would lower bike enough to take it off the side st...
