Re: Kawasaki 650...Why is it so much cheaper?
Quality issues, perhaps? A handful of years ago I did a search for recalls on motorcycle parts, and the Kawasaki brand made quite a showing on that list. Suzuki and Honda, not so much.

Re: Good Day Gentlemen. I am an experienced rider.
Same here, 7 years of making mistakes, learning from them, and still finding new ones to make.
So true :)
If being a passenger counts for anything, I've been riding since '81. Otherwise, I've been riding solo on and off since '93, seriously since '03, and sold the car in '06 to make the bike my ...

Re: Yet another "new biker - what to buy thread" ..
Hondas are notoriously hard to kill.
As far as shifting goes, I like a boot with a sturdy, low profile toe - makes it easy to slip it under the shifter. I like my Doc Martens for that. The little muscle on your shin that does the work will develop in time. It's just not pleasant for the first ...

Re: Hello from southern Arizona
Didn't do any cycling during my 6monts in Southern California, although the PCH whould be a total blast. San Diego and Los Angeles were no place for a motorcycle.
Putting the crate on the back was one of the best functional choices I made. It's so darned convenient.

Re: This Week's Bike: 2012 Ural T - Vote & Discuss
It has a sidecar, and it is a Ural. It is made of both awesome and win.
I would get one for looks, of course, but can't get past the low top speed and atrocious gas mileage for an every-day vehicle.

Re: Is the Era of the Motorcycle Over?
The only reason I would get a scooter is they're easier to ride in a dress.
I have a motorcycle and all the latest iGadgets. They compliment each other nicely. It's nice to look off into the distance, verify that the thunderhead is going someplace I am not, and then calling Husband to tell him I'll ...

This is my bike. Get your own.
Seriously, though, I don't know anyone who both wants a ride and weighs less than I do. I still have my passenger seat somewhere, just in case.

Re: Wind Noise = deal breaker
I wonder how much of this has to do with the windshield? Granted, my windshield is huge, but I can ride without ear protection in relative comfort sitting up straight and looking over the top at 80mph. I wear earplugs, anyway, because it is a lot more comfortable. Without the windshield, it's a ...

Re: This Week's Bike: 2012 Honda Shadow RS 750 - Vote & Disc
Meh wasn't an option, so I went with Cool. It isn't totally Uncool.
Looks alright, and it's a Honda, but they made three changes to it that makes it totally undesirable to me: chain drive, smaller tank (seriously, 2.7 gallons?), and higher seat.

Re: First Time motorcycle buyer, never even ridden one!
If you're not mechanically inclined, I would stay far away from older bikes. Personal experience speaking, here, and learning from my dad's garage full of dead bikes.
