Hesitation at full throttle (not necessarily high RPM) can be due to excessive plug gap (worn plugs - plugs open gap as they age due to metal transfer) or a small gap inside the plug wire.
Closed throttle = vacuum in the cylinder = easy for spark to jump the gap.

Practice in parking lots, practice in very quiet residential streets, practice in very quiet 2 lane roads. Concentrated on learning the machine really well before venturing into traffic where I knew I needed more brainpower to deal with traffic instead of the machine.

Changing exhaust back pressure will change the mixture. You'd have to re-jet the carbs.

Since I last looked at this thread the value of that motorcycle has plummeted as the actual condition is being revealed.
If you can't flush brake fluid thru it then chances are that the pistons are rusted because the fluid has never been changed.

I'd like to know what the seller means when he says he winterized it. Definitions can vary substantially.

If it was parked in '09 and hasn't been run then the carbs are probably gummed up and the gas tank may be rusty inside unless the previous owner took pains to properly store it (chances are that this was not done).

Looks like a good idea. But hands, elbows and knees hit the ground first most of the time (as I understand it).
