Today I officially upgraded to the Intermediate level as an EMT. In Ohio, our standards for the Intermediate level are higher than the National standard (NREMT), so I get to perform much more useful skills to help our patients. Worked an early morning code (a.k.a., cardiac arrest) for nearly an hour. CPR was textbook, we secured his airway with an ET tube, and every cardiac drug available was tossed his way. Transport to the hospital was indicated, since our patient continued to go into v-fib (a "shockable" rhyth...

My very first vehicle was a manual ('78 Ford Courier pickup). There were several automatics along the way, but our last three cars have been manuals. Like JC Viper said, I like to be engaged with my vehicle. And I can't ride the motorcycle in the snow, so my Outback keeps me happiest in the winter. ...
