Just beginning my journey.

Hi, my name is Will. That's Will, not William. I'm currently 22 years old, attended a local community college full time, and I work part time in the kitchen of a county nursing home.

I'm a business administration major, I graduate with my associates in may '07 and I'll be moving on to SUNY Geneseo in the fall of '07.

I am part of the sterotypical "baby boomer's kid" motorcycle group. The basic progression is that baby boomers had motorcycles, then they grew up and got responsible, and then they got old enough so they're kids weren't as dependent on them and they got back into their old habit and the kids got themselves motorcycles.

My dad hasn't gotten another bike, but he's gotten a '63 and a '62 nova, and a 74 (i think) El Camino.

And because I'm into motorcylce now...he keeps drooling at them and waiting to save up to get his own.

I've been interested in motorcycles for years but never gave it too much thought. A few of my classmates had bikes and that got an idea started in my head. I ignored it for a few years. Another one of my classmates bought a used Kawasaki Ninja 500. He got a really good deal on it... I had to hunt for other such deals. While hunting I couldn't really find exactly what I wanted, but I kept dreaming of the perfect find and that made me want to take the whole thing more seriously.

I slowed down. I bought The Complete Idiot's Guide To Motorcycles and The Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Guide To Motorcycling Excellence I read dozens of websites. I saved up some money.

I registered for an MSF Beginner Ridercourse. I went to every bike shop within 100 miles (except a couple Harley shops as A) I don't have that kind of money and B) I went to one HUGE Harley dealer that had just about every Harley I needed to see) I found myself attracted to several cruisers and a few standard/naked/streetfighter/retro bikes.

I did a lot of review reading and fact checking. I talk to a couple bike shop mechanics about favorable features. I read my books and got their opinions. I picked a diamond out of the rough. And interstinly enough it was at the shop closest to my house (3 miles away maybe) and it's owned by the parents of a girl that I escorted to her Junior Prom.

I bought a bright blue Suzuki Boulevard M50. Really big picture behind this link http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2 ... d-M50a.jpg

I bought the bike for a lot of reasons, but here's a short list:
Fuel Injected
Liquid Cooled
Tubeless Tires
Shaft Driven
Nice combination of cruiser style and sport bike technology and attitude
love the color

Ironically I only found one other bike that wasn't appropriate for me (too powerfull) that I really liked. Kawasaki 1500 Mean Streak. I later read that the Suzuki Boulevard M109R is a re-styled version of the mean streak, and that the M50 I own is essentially the smaller version of the Mean Streak.

I researched and ordered my riding gear, I took my MSF course and passed with flying colors (especially the emergency brake test, I brought that little bike down to it's KNEES) I got my license and now I'm just starting to hit the road with my new bike...and it's all too quickly turning into winter.

I'm Will, I'm 22, I'm new here and to the entire scene. I'm from the Finger Lakes Region of New York (Canandaigua Specifically) and I'm ready to ride.

You knew a girl who's parents owned a motorcycle dealership and you let her go?!!?!

I think it's a beautiful machine myself, I feel very fortunate to have it.

Also she doesn't ride. She WORKS at the shop (sales counter) her parents OWN IT, her sister works there and she's NEVER RIDDEN A MOTORCYLCE (okay she rode on back, with her dad, once. Really short trip. Back of a Goldwing.)

(oh and we weren't dating, but I'm a gentleman and escorted a friend so she would have a good night.)

And I'm (have been for...6 years) dating her very sexy* friend

You have to break it down! Can-An-Day-Gwa. When I was in primary school I used to cheat on tests. They would make you write down things like the name of the school (and it's points off if you don't get it right!) so I bought a school hooded sweatshirt with the word Canandaigua down the sleeve (okay i asked for it, didn't buy it) and I would just look at it and copy!

Also you might know the area better as either The Finger Lakes or that we're a suburb of Rochester. We have a really nice lake. Rated prettiest and cleanest in the country or something. Canandaigua actually means Chosen Spot in the native language.

They're all great choices if you know what you're buying

I'm blessed to have two REALLY good shops in town. One sells Honda, Suzuki, Triumph, the other sells Kawasaki. That covers most of it.

There's a pretty good Yamaha shop not too far away as well. They're prices are a bit crappy because they do almost no volume though. Also they have maybe 2 non-cruisers and 2 dirt bikes. meh.

they're good folks though and do good work.
