I have two firends who ride 1800 wings....one is an 05 the other an 07.

Both gush about them, have made no complaints and regularly mock my Road King.

Extended warranties are never bad ideas though.
Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.

For additional research try the following site http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/index.php

I had a '01 1800 with almost 100,000 km on it. It was recalled for the electrical harness and weld problems. The harness was replaced. The welds passed the specs. If buying used, I would be sure to check the recall notices on the particular bike you're thinking about.

Good luck!
