One gripe about the 1200.

#1 Unread post by HD1200C »

Around 35mph is around the time when she needs to shift...3rd gear at 35mph tends to rattle my bones and 35mph in 4th seems like shes gaspin' for breath. This is only a problem because some of the main roads I take to work have posted speed limits of 35mph.

Other than that...I love this bike.

I think that's a gearing problem on all sporties...I definately have that issue between 3rd and 4th....I usually let her chug in 4th.

You drive the speed limit? I really never though about that.

I have the same problems, also the suspension bottoms out at any bump. Only had my 1200XL C for about three months. Most riders I speak too have the same reply that you got on this site. Like, accept it it's a Harley! No solution! I am going to upgrade the suspension with improved HDuty progressive shocks at some point. Will also put in an H&N filter and then look at it again.Maybe with some gearing changes and/or fuel injection changes. Also my fuel mileage sucks, 25 to 30. Harley claims 47. This is my first Harley after riding Hondas, Yamahas and european bikes for a long time. I like the bike and hope to improve the ride. Would appreciate any suggestion on how to work on these issues.
All the best, if I get any improvements I will post them.
