Nonleather gear

#1 Unread post by Zoder »

Well I'm just asking mostly cause my female friend is vegan and there's no way in hell she would wear leather and I'd want to get her to ride along:D And most of the gear is leather nowadays so I was wondering if there's a way around it...

Textile gear.

Just about every manufacturer makes textile riding gear that will work

Joe Rocket
First Gear
Hein Gericke
Aerostitch (top of the line, only if you are really serious)
Alpinestars
Rhyno

Too many more to list

gloves are another story. good luck finding riding gloves that don't have any leather in them.

Yeah, the gloves will be tricky. Take a look at The Vegan Motorcyclist for tips.

Well, now I have heard of everything. Vegan Motorcycle Websites! I assume that there is going to be a Biodiesel motorcycle coming out soon.

The end is near.

The US military converted the KLR 650 to diesel -- shouldn't be a big jump from there to bio. :D

Actually, any engine which runs on diesel (bike, truck, or otherwise) can already run on Bio. :) You might have to add a little engine cleaner to it every now and again, but it'll work, either way.

I like my Joe Rocket Ballistic nylon/cordura/kevlar jacket. It gives me enough room to wear a fleece under when it's really cold, and I can take the quilted liner out when it's hot.
The bright yellow is very visible and it has a reflective stripe across the back.
