Joe Rocket Rio Mesh Jacket Review

Design
A lightweight jacket designed for the summer. The body is mesh, kind of like a football jersey with slightly bigger holes. Think football pads wrapped in a long sleeve jamaican shirt. The jacket is very simple...yet not plain. Its a very attractive jacket once you've seen it in person.

Fit
Relaxed fit. Its loose enough to wear a seperate jacket or hoody underneath. From first hand experience the black on black jacket and hoody combination looks tough. Wearing a seperate garment underneath makes it possible to wear this jacket in the winter. The elbow/forearm pads are a bit bulky but it feels like they'd surely protect you in a crash.

Protection
There are a total of three removable armor pieces in the jacket. Two shoulder pieces and one piece that covers the entire spine and a good portion of your back. Ontop of the removable pieces are permanently placed elbow/forearm pads, shoulder pads, and spine pads. The mesh material would not hold up on asphalt...heck I don't even think it'd hold up if you wore this jacket to a football scrimmage.

Bottom Line
Great jacket for summer or even winter use. The pads feel good enough to protect you but the mesh doesn't. If you're looking for more protection then upgrade to leather. If you need the mesh for the hot weather, then this jacket provides enough padding protection. Jacket looks great too, especially if you like the tough guy look.[/i]
