Summer jacket?

#1 Unread post by MidSSouth »

What is a good summer jacket? I was looking at the Joe Rocket Alter Ego but I've read that it doesn't take crashes well and since that it my reason for wearing a jacket I don't think I should get it. Do any of the mesh jackets take crashes without getting destroyed (followed by you) or should I look into perforated leather? How warm is that during the summer? Winter use isn't a problem because I have my Dad's old thick Harley Jacket. Temps aroudn here go from 80*-100* during the summer.

Where I am in Australia the temperature varies from 50 in the winter to 110+ in the summer. I use one jacket for the whole year which I always wear whilst riding.
In winter I will wear something warm underneath and in summer I will just put up with the heat.
I would much rather compromise my comfort on the hotter days than my skin in the event of an accident.

From what I've heard the TZ-1 is a phenominal jacket (as is all Alpinestars gear), although Alpinestars is releasing a new jacket that should replace it this year, the TX-1. Also check out the Alpinestars Stunt, as it comes in a perforated version that would keep you much cooler in the hot weather.
