On November 4, a Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special was sold for an astonishing $800,000 to the Crown Prince of Qatar at the second annual charity gala dinner in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The star-studded gala celebrated the first anniversary of the official launch of Reach Out to Asia, a charity that benefits those in need in Asia. Last year, the auction at the event raised $10 million; this year the auction raised more than $11.25 million.

The Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special, launched earlier this year, is worthy of the royal attention. The motorcycle was recently named 'Cruiser of the Year', awarded by the UK's leading motorcycle publication, Motorcycle News. This award is one of over 30 awards won worldwide for the V-Rod family of motorcycles.

The $800,000 paid for the Night Rod Special is only $100 dollars short of the highest amount ever spent on a Harley-Davidson. This was a Road King model auctioned by Harley-Davidson enthusiast Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show' to raise funds for the Asian Tsunami disaster in 2004.

Richard Quest from CNN was at the gala event and will be doing a program about the charity.
