Bikers' groups plan holiday 'toy run' Saturday in Leesburg

The Lake County Chapter of American Bikers Aimed Towards Education will sponsor its third annual Lake County United Motorcyclist Toy Run on Saturday starting at Gator Harley-Davidson, U.S. Highway 441, Leesburg.

Other hosts include the U.S. Military Vets, Central Florida Cruisers, Rugged Cross, Christian Motorcycle Association, Iron Pigs and American Legion Riders Post 219.

Participating motorcyclists will start the run at Gator Harley and finish at the Eagles Lodge in Okahumpka. Visit with Santa Claus and foster children from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gator Harley.

A trophy will be awarded to the three groups with the most participants.

A limited number of T-shirts will be available.

Sign-up time is 9 to 10:30 a.m., with a police-escorted ride to Okahumpka leaving at 11 a.m.

The cost is $10 and one new, unwrapped toy.

There will be bike games, live music and food vendors at the Eagles Lodge at the end of the toy run. A mobile unit of the Florida Blood Centers will be on site for walk-in donors.

The run will benefit the Salvation Army and the Lake and Sumter Counties Foster Parent Association.
