Bikers bearing gifts hit road for charity
Friday, December 1, 2006 - Sunshine Coast Daily -sunshinecoastdaily.com.au

BIKERS will head for the streets on Sunday morning to show that behind the tattoos, monster beards and noisy engines they're softies at heart.
About 900 bikers are expected to join the annual Sunshine Coast Toy and Tucker Run.

Organised by the Sunshine Coast Ulysses Motorcycle Club – a club for over 40s – the toy run gathers gifts for less privileged children in the community.

Last year more than 800 riders participated and their gifts provided Christmas joy to more than 200 children in care on the Sunshine Coast.

Ulysses Club member Fran Gray said she was always amazed at the amount of gifts.

This year bikers are encouraged to bring non-perishable foods for the Christmas table.

Foster carer Rae Harrington said foster children and children in the care of their grandparents or relatives would receive an extra surprise under the Christmas tree, thanks to the toy run.

The parade leaves Stockland Shopping Centre, Caloundra at 9.45am and follows the beachfront, Nicklin Way, Mooloolaba Esplanade before finishing at Cotton Tree Park. Ms Gray has details on 0438 621 914.
