The doors to the 6th Annual Calgary Motorcycle Show swing open at noon Friday, January 5th and will remain open until Sunday, January 7th at 5:00 p.m. at the Roundup Centre, Stampede Park.

There will be hundred of bikes, ATV’s and scooters on display from leading manufacturers including: Aprilia, BMW, BRP, Ducati, E-TON, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyosung, Jianshe, Kawasaki, KTM, Kymco, Suzuki, Triumph, Vespa, Victory, and Yamaha. The following will highlight some of the new models for 2007.

American Ironhorse Motorcycles designs and manufactures six different models of their own brand of custom built, high performance choppers and cruisers. The Texas Chopper, Legend and LSC are three of the more extreme chopper designs, while the Slammer, Tejas and the Outlaw are more in keeping with the custom cruiser market.

Several new Aprilia models will be introduced at this years show including the SXV Pista 4 Supermotos, the RSV Pista 4.5 and 5.5 Enduros, and Scarabeo 50 Scooter, which is more traditionally designed. In addition to the new models the ever popular RSV1000R in both street and factory race setup will be on display.

BMW lovers are definitely in for a treat this year as six brand new models will be introduced at this year’s show, including the new 2007 BMW R1200R which combines timeless styling with cutting edge technology. The newly designed F800S and F800ST further showcase the strength of BMW Motorrad, these low weight bikes with agile handling characteristics, deliver impressive torque, excellent responsiveness and good fuel economy all in one. In the “streetmoto” segment BMW is offering the three new G650’s, the XMoto, XChallenge and XCountry, each with its new unique design and performance elements.

Buell Motorcycle Company continues to challenge the sport-motorcycle status quo in 2007 with a line-up of seven Buell XB motorcycles offered in three distinct model families. There are four new Buell Lightning models in the Street Fighter family and two Buell Firebolt models to fill the Sportfighter niche, Buell XB12X Ulysses is an Adventure Sport motorcycle with long-travel suspension designed to for any road surface. In the XB family, the Buell XBRR is a limited edition production racing bike designed solely for closed-course competition. Buell has also introduced Pirelli tires on all its bikes as well as there are some new colors to choose from.

BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) has re-launch its ATV brand, as Can-Am featuring enhanced power, handling and performance characteristics, as well as a host of new features and accessories designed to satisfy the most demanding rider. The Renegade is not just a new ATV; it is a new concept blending radical performance with 4x4 terrain ability, with no compromise. In 2007 BRP redefines the recreation-sport ATV category and pushes the boundaries of recreation-utility ATV’s with an outstanding premium package. A new edition to the Outlander family is the Outlander 500 H.O. EFI North America and the Outlander 650 H.O. EFI, and for those wanting to take longer trips, the Outlander MAX 800 H.O. EFI Ltd., with premium features including colour GPS and accents that are sure to turn heads.

Ducati Canada will be showing off several new models at this years Calgary Motorcycle Show including the Parts Unlimited Replica 99S, Monster 685, Multistrada 1100 and 1000S and the S4R and SR4 S Monster. The Monster family offers new colours, higher and wider handlebars and a low seat height which all contribute to the confidence and control that this bike offers riders of all skill levels. The limited edition 2007 Ducati 999s Parts Unlimited Replica is closely based on the AMA Superbike Factory bikes. Powered by the 143hp liquid cooled 999cc Testastretta motor, it comes with numerous adjustable features to suite individual preferences and handling traits. This bike is built exclusively for the North American market, there will only be 150 units available. The Mulistrada family sees the introduction of the 110 and the 100S models delivering additional torque and smoother more tractable horsepower.

If you’re a Harley-Davidson fan then the all new VRSC models, the new FXSTC Softail Custom and a limited edition 50th Anniversary sportster model are all a must see. The new Twin Cam 96 engine paired with the 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission deliver more torque and incorporates a number of design changes to enhance performance and reliability. The new FXSTC Softail Custom reprises the styling cues of the classic chopper with king-and-queen seat, and Bobtail rear fender. The limited-edition 50th Anniversary Sportster features special badging, a traditional peanut fuel tank, and other classic components to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1957 Sportster introduction. Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations will offer four exciting models for 2007: the Screamin’ Eagle Road King, the Screamin’ Eagle Ultra Classic Electra, the Screamin’ Eagle Softail Springer, and the Screamin’ Eagle Dyna. Each has a new high-performance Twin Cam 110 powertrain and features new accessories and paint schemes.

Honda has a broad line-up of new 2007 motorcycles and ATV’s, but they will also be showcasing the new models that feature an airbag which adds an extra measure of safety in the event of a frontal impact. The revolutionary Gold Wing GL1800AL and GL1800AD also feature ABS brakes, a GPS navigation system, heated seats and handgrips, and a premium audio system. The new VTX1800T Touring combines the look and feel of a big custom cruiser with the practical features that allow you to cover long distances in easy comfort. The new VT750C2 Shadow Spirit combines an eye-grabbing custom appearance with a wonderfully sporty ride and feel. The all new 600cc engine of the CBR600RR combines radical performance with everyday practicality. Honda is also introducing the first 150cc four-stroke race bike. Honda’s line-up of ATV’s including the new TRX500FPE Foreman with more power and a bunch of new features boosts it to a whole new level of performance.

Hyosung Motors completed its inaugural year in the Canadian motorcycle market. The flagship of the Korean-built manufacturers is the stylish V650 cruiser. For the city commuter, a completely new 250cc scooter will be introduced to the market. It has been designated as the MS3. For those looking for innovation Hyosung will introduce an affordable performance 450cc sports ATV with fully adjustable suspension, the TE450.

Jianshe will introduce the new JS200 dirt bike and JS90 for the 2007 model year. Jianshe offers a range of accessories including winches, mounting plates, protective skid plates, rear bumpers, snow plow kits, big wheel kits, and more. The JS90 for off road fun is an outstanding bike for young motorsport enthusiasts. With features that include an electric start and auto-clutch, kids are free to focus all of their attention on the trail.

Kawasaki introduces the totally revamped ZX-6R to replace the R and RR models. The chassis and suspension components have been revamped to provide improved cornering. The new Versys is suited to all types of road conditions and delivers smooth responsive power in the low and mid range with plenty left for the top. Kawasaki has also revamped the Z1000 and for the sport enthusiast the KLR650 received a total makeover. It features new suspension, improved brakes and greater low end torque and throttle response.

KTM will introduce several new models to the Canadian market in both the off road street categories. The new 990 Superduke, which was introduced in Europe last year brings a whole new level of performance to the KTM line. The 990 Adventure takes sport adventure touring to the next level. The new EXC line up which is still a pure Enduro-style motorcycle is now equipped with all the appropriate options that make it and outstanding dirt bike.

Moto Guzzi introduces several models to the market, including the Breva 750, Norge 1200GT and California Vintage. The new Breva 750 is unmistakably a Moto Guzzi, its compact size, ergonomic riding position and easy handling but easily adapts to country roads. The Norge 1200 GT marks Moto Guzzi’s return to Gran Turismo touring. The California Vintage has been updated without altering its tradition, personality and spirit. It is more powerful, easier to ride and safer. The Moto Guzzi 1100 has been completely re-designed for feel and performance.

Piaggio will be showing off several new models including the Fly 50 and revolutionary 3 wheeled MP3. Piaggio is known for their craftsmanship, design and modern technology. The Piaggio Fly 50 is easy to use, offers absolute comfort, performance and discreet styling. The MP3, three wheeler redefines the concept of rider stability.

Pitster Pro offers a line of Pit Bikes that come fully “hopped up” and ready to race at a fraction of the cost of purchasing and building one from stock. The Pitster Pro models, which now include the 125X, X2 and X2R, are available in both Off Road and Super Motard configurations.

Suzuki’s 2007 line of motorcycles follows the tradition of innovation and engineering excellence along with a clear focus for the racetrack. The all new GSX-R1000 has been completely redesigned. For the street class, Suzuki introduces two exciting new models the GSF1250S Bandit and GSF650S Bandit. Both are great performers, fantastic value and rock solid reliability with eye catching looks. The all new Burgman 400 has totally been updated. The all new QuadSport Z90 4-stroke youth model is the perfect introduction to the sport.

The Russian made Ural is the only motorcycle in the world that comes manufactured with a sidecar. The full line includes a wide variety of family and adventure orientated models. Simple in design, retro in look, the Ural is a niche motorcycle that offers riders simplicity, style and sidecar functionality wrapped up in an attention grabbing package.

Achieving near true cult scooter status for 2007 Vespa Vintage continue to combine the elegance of classic design and vintage style. New models include the LXV 150 and GTV 250. The LXV was conceived as a tribute to the Vespa’s of the 1960’s, but a slimmer more minimalist version with a modern environmentally friendly 150cc engine. Under the classic design of the GTV is a completely modern machine.

The 2007 Victory line-up has a model for every type of cruiser rider. Legendary custom bike builders and Victory styling partners Arlen and Cory Ness applied their creative mastery to offer a pair of 2007 limited-edition signature bikes based on the Vegas Jackpot. The new 2007 limited edition Hammer S exudes sporty muscle car styling.

Yamaha’s smallest and smartest new motorcycle for 2007 is the XF50 C3 scooter, big on storage and gas savings while small in price and stature. The biggest addition to the Star line for 2007 is the new V-Star 1300.
For 2007 the 700 Grizzly has been completely redesigned. The new 250 and 400cc Big Bear and 350 Kodiak models round out the multi purpose category.

Admission is $12.50 for adults, $9.00 for juniors (6-15 years), and $33.00 for families (2 adults, 2 juniors). Kids under 6 get in free when accompanied by an adult.
