The doors to the 2012 Calgary Motorcycle Show swing open on Friday January 6th, 2012 and remain open until 5:00 Sunday, January 8th, 2012. The Show takes place at the BMO Centre, Stampede Park.

This is the first chance for motorcycle, ATV and scooter enthusiasts to preview the new 2012 models from all the major manufacturers including: Aprilia, BMW, BRP, Can-Am, Cleveland Cyclewerks, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, MV Agusta, Polaris, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory, Yamaha, and Zero. Take the opportunity to check out the latest in gear and after-market accessories.

One of the most popular features is once again back by popular demand. The Evolution of Extreme Show is not for the faint of heart. Team members Reagan Sieg, Jeff Fehr and Montana native Keith Sayers will perform aerial stunts the likes of Rock Solid, Kiss of Death, Tsunami and Cliff Hanger. Alongside this trio, are Team Empire members, Las Vegas, Nevada native Nick “Apex” Brocha and Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Ernie “Edub” Vigil, presented by Parts Canada. If the addition of Team Empire wasn’t enough we have brought in ATV expert Cody Elkins, the first rider to ever jump over a flying airplane, and Snowmobile stunt specialist, Ted Culbertson. Audiences will be treated to non-stop action, in the air and on the floor which is certain to get everyone’s adrenaline pumping.

If you need to bring your heart rate down a notch, a stroll through the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group display area is a must. The theme of this year’s exhibit is “My First Bike”. The bikes on display are supplied by avid collectors and dedicated restoration experts, representing their first bikes. The beauty of these classics gives show goers a profound appreciation for just how far things have progressed in design, function and performance. The members of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle group will be on hand to answer questions and talk at length about their first love, their first bike.

Stop by the Blackfoot Triumph booth to meet and greet Clayton Bellamy of the Road Hammers or plan to check out one of his acoustic performances throughout the weekend, in support of his new single “Everyone’s a Dreamer” being released December 26th.

For those that are considering their first motorbike, the Show provides an excellent opportunity for children between the ages of 6 and 12 to give it a try. The Yamaha Kids Riding Academy provides youngsters with the necessary instruction, gear and hands on opportunity to try out the sport. The program is run by experienced instructors in a child friendly environment. The priority is safety and the track on which kids can hone their skills is both supervised and controlled. Parents can allow their kids a chance to give riding a try before they commit to the purchase of their child’s first bike. Sign up early as the sessions tend to fill up quickly.

There are many sports that in the past have been male dominant and that has certainly been true in the motorsport world. In what once was a male dominated arena it is nice to see manufacturers catering to the specific needs of the female rider, and this year’s Calgary Motorcycle Show is no different. SHE Rides Nite runs Friday, January 6th from 5:00 until 9:00. All ladies entering the show will receive discounted admission and have the opportunity to win wonderful prizes, including the grand prize of a Suzuki S40 provided by Walt Healy Motorsports and Suzuki Canada. Take in seminars and the informational sessions that cover topics of special interest to women of all levels of riding experience.
