Netflix

Anyone used this service? I thought about trying it, since the video stores never have anything in stock anymore.

But their terms of service reads very badly! Changing service conditions without notice, send me spam about new movies, deciding whether to send me a movie or not at their 'sole discretion'.

Anyway, anyone use or like this service?

ive used it off and on for several years, and i'd recommend it to anyone. I watch more movies then tv, so its great for me. I can have 3 movies at any given time. It takes about 2 days for me to get the movies when i order them, and about the same for the ones i send back to get there.
I have had a few issues over the years with me sending a movie back and them never getting it, and vise versa, but they've always just written it off at no cost to me.

You should try it out.

at some points, especially during the winter, i'd watch maybe 3-4 movies a week. so for 19 bucks a months its way cheaper then $4 for each block buster rental.

For the Canadians in the crowd, there is a service called Zip.ca which is a Canuckistan equivalent to Netflix.

I did it for a while untill I went back to school and now I have no time to watch movies anymore. I really liked it, I would have another movie within two days of sending one back. Always got what I asked for. I even lost one once and they didn't charge me for it.

Several people here at work use it as well and no problems.

It's great. Only problem is if you flip movies too quickly (as in receive it, watch it, mail it back on the same day) they start slowing the feed...
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

Yeah, this was true. Some customers got p1ssed about it and brought the case to a trial lawyer who then filed it with a federal court. Judgement went to the customer which resulted Netflix removing the delay.

I've enrolled with Netflix for well over 3 years now. It's great in Minnesota. Other areas may differ based on inventory vs. customer count. I (ahem...make copies) and ship em back the same day. I usually get 6 movies per week. They don't ship Saturdays and Sundays, so 6 movies received per week is pretty good.

What I dont get is that on the site, it just says that as soon as you send your movie back, they send you a new one from your list. And it says you make a list of movies in order of priority for them to send to you.

But what if I just want to rent one movie, watch it, send it back, and get back to them in a couple weeks on my next movie? I dont want movies constantly coming to my mailbox nor do I want to set up a big list of movies I probably have no interest in seeing.

in tha case, first of all, dont set up a queu since they automaticaly send it when that slot becomes available. Secondly, get the cheaper plan. I think there is a 13$ or so plan that only allows you to have 2 movies at a time.

Bach; but I haven't seen the pace of movies speed up... (Yes, I was a flipper:))...

CNF; Sounds like the product isn't for you. You need to be flexible to enjoy netflix 'cause they don't send you the next on your list, they send the next *available* on your list... if your list is
Fisting Firemen 1
Fisting Firemen 2
Fisting Firemen 3
Back Door players 1
Back Door players 2

...and the first two Fisting Firemen DVDs and Back Door players 1 have been mailed out to other customers they'll send you Fisting Firemen 3 and Back Door players 2 and leave you to spin on your third DVD.

Personally I love it 'cause I just dump every movie I can think of that I'd like to watch on the list and when I get it I get it... but then again I rarely try to watch serials or anything like that where the sequence matters. Sounds like you wouldn't enjoy the lack of control.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

Yep, sounds like it.

I really just wanted to sign up because I thought they would have a good selection and plenty of inventory. There's been a couple movies that I really want to see, but Blockbuster never has them in stock. They are always rented, especially since they only have 1 copy, and they let people 'rent' them for almost a month since they got rid of their late charges. They never have anything in stock anymore.

I switched to Hollywood video, which DOES have late fees and DOES have things on the shelf, but there is one movie that I just can never seem to get. Its the oldies that I cant find!
