On Monday we left Gunnison at 7:00am heading for Montrose. It started raining just a few miles out of town. I don't know about you but rain doesn't bother me unless it get too heavy. At Montrose we turned south on US-550. The weather didn't look much better, with scattered showers. At Ridgway we turned west on CO-62 to get to Placerville and CO-145 north to Naturita and CO-141. These are some great roads. In fact 141 is one of the best rides I've ever had. All to soon we reached Grand Junction and turned east. At Rifle we take CO-13 north and stop at Rifle Gap State Park.
Tuesday morning we break camp and head north on 13 to Craig, where we pick up US-40 east. we follow 40 until we get to Granby were we turn off on US-34. This is a road. You keep going up. And when you think you can't go any higher the road just keeps going up. To a little over 12,000 ft (3,700m). There was still snow on the ground from last winter. And we were riding through clouds. We get down off the mountain and head into Longmont where we plan on getting rooms. That's when the mech monster reared it's ugly head and took a bite out of Scott's electrical system. We had to pull all the light fuses to get enough juice to make the last 7 miles.
So here we are. Waiting for U-Haul to open so we can get a truck to haul the Wing back to Kansas City.
LIFE IS!

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Sent kids off to first day of school - paid off some debts - had breakfast with "Scan" - went for small moto ride with "Scan" before work - rode my Mean Streak to my firefighter/emt job - played with equipment on Engine 82 and Medic 81, and reparked all apparatus nice and straight - swept apparatus bays - watched adjoining parking lot receive fresh coating of blacktop - laughed my azz off with chief - cried a little and smiled while reading a "thank you" note from a family whose car crash we worked a month ago (driver is certainly lucky to be alive) - wrote letter of complaint to township board of trustees regarding a certain zoning inspector who continually raids the refrigerator (which belongs to the members of the fire department) - prepared myself for my first instructor's gig tomorrow (a CPR class for a couple of teenagers, one of them being my own son who just became an Explorer on the fire department) - rode Mean Streak home - had dinner with family - watched an episode of "Wipeout" with kids - watched "Scan" nap on couch while kids got ready for bed - found immense joy at sight of my pup, Deogi, running through the house trying to get to a raccoon that was outside of the house - checked Facebook account and tracked down a few more long-lost friends (I guess that makes them long-misplaced friends!) - logged on to TMW for first time in many moons! Now I'm off to sleep...
Cheers,
Loonette

I saw that one there, but it is too similar to my Shark helmet so I got the dark one.Loonette wrote:Holy carp! Hey back at 'cha! I'm so busy these days, I hardly have time to check what's going on here. Nice to see some familiar people are still around.fireguzzi wrote:Cut my grandmothers grass for her.
