Spybot Search & Destroy gets rid of most malware.

BitDefender is my new favorite free AV product, too.

You can try this too.

Go here & download HiJack This. You might have to use the 'click here if download does not begin'.

Then paste the results in here.

See how you go with that. Becareful what you delete though. If not sure get help first.

When I used it just now I got error messages when hijack this opened. Ignore them & keep going. It will scan. Read the boxes though for relevant info.

Spybot has a forum that you can post the results of HijackThis, then they help you choose how to get rid of the problem. They recommend lots of programs, but one I've liked is the online Kaspersky scan. Look it up it's good.

The Spybot forum is the dog's nuts though. Quality.

you may want to try a virus scan as well as update windows. Also next time that happens run your spyware scanner in safe mode as it will get rid of it easier/safer/ and its better to do it that way anyways. I do it once a month.

Ahh, it's good to have a router with a firewall and a good Internet Security suite.

My Vista, WindowsXP and Mac OSX haven't had a problem with malware yet. I run BitDefender Internet Security 2008 and it catches the viruses and what not without my system getting infected. I tried Norton and McAfee and both hog tie my system.

As backups I use WebRoot SpySweeper, SpyBot S&D, CCleaner (get rid of bad registry files). THen there's also the fact of me running behind a hardware firewall from my router.
