We see a lot of stories about shootings. Do you think that the average gun owner will always side with the shooter in such news stories?

Answers are simple, yes, maybe and no. Please explain if you feel you need to.

Edited to add: I have not and will not be voting in this poll

I said no, mostly because I don't really know what the 'average' gun owner tends to think like, just myself. And honestly, our modern experiment of bypassing natural selection is producing sketchy results at best. There are lots of people I don't believe should handle a feather duster, nevermind a firearm.... lots-n-lots. And lots. So there seems to be a large number of 'bad' shootings, performed by people who maybe oughtn't be handling sharp objects or things that go bang.

It would be interesting to see some accurate numbers comparing good-vs-bad shootings by the general public. I have never seen anything like that (not that I looked either...) and I'm not sure they could be generated. I doubt you could get everybody to agree on the accuracy of such numbers in the first place.

BuzZz - that would be a very neat study. It might be possible to do if enough decided cases can be compiled, analyzed and categorized. From those cases it might be possible to gather some noteworthy trends.

Actually, now that you mention it, do you mind if I present to another group and see if we can have some conversation about such a study?

Thanks for voting

Please keep the numbers coming. Again, no explanation necessary if you don't want, but please vote.

Why's everyone so shy?

I voted maybe because there was no "not always".

It would depend on the incident.
