Excellent figure 8

Skip to the half way point to see the figure 8. The other large bike figure 8 demonstrations I've seen look ponderous compared to this. This is a great find for me because I can directly compare the video of what I do with what he does.

Anybody who puts in the time can be just as good on figure 8s as this guy and it's well worth it.

It's not a figure 8. It's not about who's the best.

The policeman's figure 8 demonstration is something I've been looking for. He does the maneuver like someone who has practiced it a lot and he does more than just one or two repetitions.

He is also riding the clutch and brake and using them quite agressively. It's the best demonstration I've seen of someone doing that. I do my figure 8s in the same space but with throttle only.

Figure eights are much harder on sport bikes.

You just like to be argumentative don't you?

If you watch that MSF figure 8 again, you will see TONS of clutch control. Thats the key to a competent figure 8. He's also doing it in a smaller box, on a GL1800! This is they way I learned figure 8s and they way I practiced them.

I'd guess he's been practicing that for a while. 'Perfect circle' figure 8s are harder than just staying in a box and crossing at the same point. I'm not working on that style yet, too soon.

If you look at his other video you'll note that he hasn't been doing it long.


Sportbikes are top heavy, the handlebars don't turn as far and the controls are much more precise. The same throttle or brake application on your bike would be greatly amplified on a sportbike.

Steep geometry means sportbikes steer VERY quickly...they feel twitchy & they're top heavy (as mentioned).
