Optical mice rather enjoy a small piece of duct tape placed over the "eye."
Okay so it's the reaction of the user that provides the entertainment, but sure is funny to do to friends at LAN parties.

Some people would actually need that training.Mr. Invisible wrote:So who around here has been trained to remove, replace and clean mouse balls?

Don't you mean remove, clean, and then replace. My DI always impressed upon us the importance of doing things in the proper order. He'd say "Ladies it's rape, pillage, and burn. If you get the order wrong, it's no fun at all".Mr. Invisible wrote:So who around here has been trained to remove, replace and clean mouse balls?
It was a long time ago.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Actually the Memo that SV-Wolf posted was taken from an actual memo that was passed around to IBM service personnel.
Back then the mouse was a huge rectangular thing with one or two buttons on top.
There was nothing in the original memo about foreign balls, but I think I remember something about tweezers and cleaning, and also something about scrubbing.
