UK humour is sooooo funny (once you're used to it) :uk:

The only American show that beats it's British counterpart is the US Office... check this out:

This vid won't embed but it is DEFINITELY worth the click (4 1/2 mins but WELL worth it!):

I guess I grew up on British humour since day one -- with all older brothers and sisters passing down there taste in music, comedy and everything else less palatable as well (snicker)...

The Office has never been a show I liked much; some of the use of there "thats what she said" joke is pretty funny but it grows old quick for me. I didnt watch the Office much really, but I thought Steve Carel (sp) was pretty good in the Get Smart movie. (The guys who really suck are Vince Vaughn, etc., just all trash to me)

BUT, before The Office the same guys (I think) wrote for Arrested Development which I really liked. It was much crazier and I dare say more liike Fawlty Towers (one of the best comedies):

This compilation has a fun soundtrack too:

I've never seen Arrested Development but that clip makes it look quite funny.

But now I've decided that Steve Carrell deserves his own topic, so to check out more "that's what she said", click here!

I first watched Monty Python when I was quite young in the company of older brothers & a lot of the humour went over my head at the time. It didn't take to long for me to catch tho

Does anyone remember a show :uk: with Marty Feldman & Spike Milligan? :? That was truly absurd but I remember my eldest brother literally rolling around on the floor with laughter.

Another old comedian worth checking out is a Scot called Chic Murray. He was so droll & dry & very very funny. Years later I used to drink in a bar in zedinburgh he used to own, but never met him unfortunately.

As for all the other programmes mentioned....I have never watched any of them! I rarely find a US sitcom funny (sorry).

I didn't watch any of the original British Office either, tho couldn't avoid all the clips & hype. I'm afraid I can't stand Ricky Gervais!! He is constantly cropping up on chat shows & is just so full of himself. I just don't get why people think he is funny :? :?
