Lost ignition key '95 Suzi gs500 e

#1 Unread post by superskip »

yeah i know - shoulda had dupes made, well i meant to...

Of the two locksmiths in this 'town' only one says he might be able to make me a new key $75.00, and on top of that I have to bring the bike to the shop 'cuz they can't do it on a house call. He says they tried to before but didn't have any luck 'there's not enough light' wtf ? Anybody here heard of such a thing ???

(I'm seriously considering breaking the lock and hotwiring so I'll never need a key again - start it with a hidden switch)

WTH makes a m'cycle key so different from, say, a house key ???

Edit :
OH, just saw that previous key thread down there - if i remove the ignition switch and take it TO the 'smith, i wonder if he'll have the nerve to still charge $$75 ...

yeah that sounds really expensive. my friend lost his and took the ignition module to a locksmith and they cut a key for him for less than $10.

I took in the steering lock on my bike and had two keys made for $5 each. Took about 10 minutes. I'd say look around for another locksmith.

For $75 you can buy a whole new ignition switch and 2 keys!
I say go look for another locksmith.

You can actually get the complete ignition switch with 2 keys for less than $30 from Dennis Kirk. But you're going to have a separate key for the tank, seat, and helmet lock.
It's not the bike but the experience.
