#1 Unread post by laura »

hi am new to this site&would be grateful if anyone could help me,bike starts fine but when i stop at junctions, traffic lights my engine dies on me,have had it at garage but they can not find the fault, oddly enough this problem only started after i had changed the spark plugs but they have said they are fine, having said that they have had it for over 2 months,am beginning to think they are two lads who have done up a couple of bikes now call themselves merchanics, any help would be much appreciated the bike is a honda CD125t 1982   :D

Does it start hard? What RPM does the engine idle at? Does it run well otherwise?

Is it jsut when you have it in gear and are at a stop? If so I'd say your clutch is a little loose and dragging.

Quick, internet-inspired guess...... they turned the idle down a tick too much when performing their 'tune-up'.....

Try turning the idle up slightly and see if that cures the problem.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I know that this has happened to me as well. The problem for me was that I was leaving the Choke on or that I had my fuel setting to "Prime." Not all bikes have these setting so these may not apply. However if they do it might be something to check.
