BMWF650GS

#1 Unread post by vagne »

Has any one experienced the BMW F650GS with the factory fitted lower suspension, in particular the chain slapping noise.

BMW say its a characteristic, i say its a latent defect in the design, can any one give a coment please.

My wife's '09 has the lowered suspension, and we've never experienced a chain slap issue. Got other problems with the bike: premature total failure of the rear master brake cylinder, and now has an electrical/starting problem. My general sense reading internet forums is the whole 800cc twin family has had more than its share of problems. But never had the chain issue.

My Battery became faulty after 3yrs , it was on the trickle charger on the bike, it gave no sign of being faulty until i tried to start the engine and then the starter motor would not turn over , i tried to bump start it but could not , bought new battery and guess what it started first time. Not had a problem so far with back brake yet. The chain slapping is su[pposed to be a characteristic according to BMW so i wonder why you have not noticed it. if you ride at any speed in any gear below 3000 rpm you should hear it.
