1979 Honda XL 100

Having a problem with this bike last time I rode it pulled in the garage shut it off ,now it won’t start put fresh gas in it even had someone pull me around the yard and it hits like it wants to fire but then back fires ,will idol every now and then and even rev up a couple times then die ,wondering if I got a electrical problem orthe carburetor is just shot or could a valve have became out of adjustment . I’ve had this bike for 15 years and it has always started and ran fine
